Constable seeks information on attempted
burglaries
Special to The Monitor
WHITTEN–Van Zandt Precinct 2 Constable C.B. Wiley reports a
string of attempted burglaries in the Whitten area recently.
An attempted burglary on FM 1651, east of the Whitten Fire
Department, occurred around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 10. A female
resident heard knocking at her front door and witnessed a
tall African American man in his 20s standing on her porch.
As the suspect started kicking the door, the woman shouted
out she had a gun and would shoot.
The suspect jumped off the porch and ran into a waiting car
which was occupied by two other men. The car appeared to be
a grey 1996 Honda.
This incident was reported three-quarters of a mile away
from another location where a burglary attempt was reported
at 3:30 p.m.
The resident from the afternoon attempt got a license plate
number which was registered to a Lancaster resident.
In the event of a burglary or attempted burglary, Wiley
advises residents to obtain a license plate number, vehicle
color and direction of travel and report that information to
911 or local law enforcement agencies.
“Don’t place yourself in danger, “ Wiley says, “that’s what
we get paid the big bucks for.”
Several other burglaries have been reported in the Whitten
area. Wiley is asking anyone with information on attempted
burglaries to call him at (903) 880-5955.
“Any information might just be the lead we need,” Wiley
said.
