boys, Canton girls top Mabank meet

MABANK–The Kemp boys and the hosting Mabank girls took the top team spots at the
annual Mabank Powerlifting Meet held Saturday in the MHS main gym.
The meet drew 90 male lifters and 46 female lifters. Although Mabank boys lifted during
the competition, their scores were not included in the official team standings, which
started with Kemp in second place. 
Kemp’s boys finished with 44 points, while Van finished third with 18 points,
followed by Forney, Brownsboro, Mesquite Poteet, Canton, Eustace, Milford and Dawson.
On the girls side, Canton won the team championship with 57 points, followed by Mabank,
which finished second with 27 points.
Forney was third, followed by Eustace, Brownsboro, Milford, Kemp and Wills Point.
During the meet, Mabank senior Dillon Bramblitt broke his own regional record by squatting
660 pounds, while classmate Si Frideley broke his own regional record in the bench press

Boys
Kemp – A.J. Durham took first in the 123-pound class with a total lift of 945 pounds
(385 squat, 210 bench press, 350 dead lift); Cris Murray took first in the 148-pound class
with a total lift of 1,250 pounds (500/290/460); John Kilgore took first in the 165-pound
class with a total lift of 1,125 pounds (455/265/405); Justin Lawler was second in the
165-pound class with a total lift of 1,010 pounds (360/230/420).
Ray Hodges took first in the 181-pound class with a total lift of 1,345 pounds
(540/305/500); Mitchell Pinion was second with a total lift of 1,130 pounds (430/300/400).
James Forrest was third in the 220-pound class with a total of 1,115 pounds (440/250/425);
Cody Parker was third in the 275-pound class with a lift of 1,300 pounds (500/350/450);
Ryan Norman was seventh in the 148-pound class with a lift of 805 pounds (310/225/270);
Carson Machen was ninth in the 148-pound class with a lift of 740 pounds (275/165/300).
Eustace – Harley Feltman finished third in the 198-pound class with a lift of 1,065
pounds (350/265/450); Johnny White finished fourth in the 132-pound class with a lift of
760 pounds (305/150/305); Preston Amason finished eighth in the 165-pound class with a
lift of 875 pounds (330/195/350).
Girls
Mabank – Casey Bramblitt grabbed Mabank’s only first-place finish in the
148-pound class with a lift of 610 pounds (255/95/260); Reagan Thornton finished fourth in
the class with a lift of 575 pounds (225/100/250).
Jessica Becerra took second in the 132-pound class with a lift of 680 pounds
(275/140/265); Shelby Swain was third in the 132-pound class with a lit of 635 pounds
(260/130/245); Ashley Hammack was third in the 132-pound class with a lift of 625 pounds
(235/130/260).
Rachel Millender finished fourth in the 198-pound class with a lift of 790 pounds
(315/170/305); Darien McCord took second in the 97-pound class with a lift of 380 pounds
(140/75/165); Josie Fugit finished seven in the 181-pound class with a lift of 590 pounds
(200/140/250); Caitlin Duran finished fifth in the 114-pound class with a lift of 475
pounds (195/90/190).
Eustace – Kelsey Maltos won the 198-pound class with a lift of 875 pounds
(415/150/310); Rebecca Funnell won the superheavyweight class with a lift of 450 pounds
(145/105/200); Laci Wooldridge finished fourth in the 165-pound class with a lift of 395
pounds (120/75/200).
Kemp – Macey Olivarez, the only Kemp girl lifter, finished second in the 181-pound
class with a lift of 790 pounds (330/145/315).
