Catherine Whitson
Services for Catherine Whitson, 83, Decatur, will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Alvord.
Whitson was born June 13, 1927, in Dallas and died March 6, 2011, in Bowie.
She and her husband, Whit, resided in Mabank for 19 years and were members of the First Presbyterian Church in Mabank.
Whitson was a loving wife, mother, granny and retired nurse. She helped and touched many lives. She will be missed by all her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R.E. Whitson; daughter Nicola Kay Deel and grandson Phillip Don Deel.
Survivors include daughters Toni Davis and husband Rick; Karen Adams and husband Steve; grandchildren Lisa Whitten and husband Richard; Staci Inman and husband Mike; Jennifer Griffin and husband Bandy; Melody Cooper and husband Alan; Shelly White and husband Floyd; Aaron Tarver and wife Allison; Jeremy Davis; Kendall Adams, Kim Prox and Logan Lambert; great-grandchildren Cheyanne and R.C. Whitten, Tiana and Ryan Inman; Hailea and Jaicea Thompson, Brennan Griffin, Christopher and Cody Perdue; LaShae and Jessica Prox and Abby White; and great-great grandson Landon Wedgeworth.

Jenna Scott
Services for Jenna Scott, 83, Mabank, were March 9, 2011, at the Mabank Church of Christ, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank.
Scott was born Oct. 14, 1927, to Josephine and Joe Kickirillo and died March 7, 2011, in Tyler at East Texas Medical Center.
She was very active in her church, enjoyed sewing, craft-making and cooking. She especially loved to bake cakes for many people in the Cedar Creek Lake area.
Scott graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas and was employed for most of her career in the education field.
She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Halcyon Club.
Scott was Church of Christ by faith and a member of the Mabank Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, J.R. “Scotty” Scott, Mabank; daughter Lois Buford and husband Eugene, Athens; sons Terry Scott and wife Judith, Mabank; Randy Scott and wife Tammy, Huntersville, N.C.; grandchildren Lisa Dailey, Tyler; Kevin Upchurch and wife Staci, Athens; Ginger Morrison and husband Mo, Athens; Brandon Buford and wife Dena, Coppell; Jason Scott and wife Leslie, Mabank; Jessica Scott, Dallas; Janet Campbell and husband Jay, Carrollton; Danny Scott, Lewisville; Lawrence DeCottin and wife Macrina, Detroit, Mich.; Nicholas Alcala and wife Alister, Mabank; great-grandchildren Slade Upchurch, Lauren Scott, Ariana Campbell; Mya Campbell, Joshua Campbell; Evan Scott, Hannah Buford, Breeona Gross, Gabe Gross, Marissa Gross, Molli Morrison, Emma Morrison and Laura DeCottin; and sister Phyllis Williams of Dallas.

Jerry Garland Sr.
Services for Jerry Rufus Garland Sr., 74, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Woodland Springs Nursing Home in Waco. Please call (254) 717-2973 for directions.
Garland was born Sept. 26, 1936 in Oklahoma and died Feb. 23, 2011, at Catherine Booth Apartments in Waco.
Garland worked in upholstery shops all over Texas, including one in Seven Points years ago.
His niece, D’Ann Martin, was his caregiver for the last four years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patlonie Taylor and brother Jack Garland Sr.
Survivors include daughters Teresa Gardner and husband Larry, Garland; Rhonda Farry and husband Joe, The Colony; Beth Wade, Dallas; Danielle Garland, Texarkana; son Jerry Garland Jr., Florida; nine grandchildren;wife Jackie Garland, Texarkana; brother Bill Garland, South Lake; sister Ora Dell McDonald, Trinidad; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Woodland Springs Nursing Home for the wonderful care he received. They also would like to say thank you to all his friends at the William Booth Apartments.

Francisco Puga
Services for Francisco Puga, 43, Athens, were held March 5, 2011, at the Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church in Malakoff. Interment followed at Post Oak Cemetery with Father Celano officiating, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
He was born Oct. 4, 1967, in Mexico to Manuela Soria and Lucio Puga and died Feb. 23, 2011, in Van Zandt County.
He was married in Arkansas to Kathleen Shue.
Survivors include his mother, Manuela Puga; stepson Jody Shue, Athens; daughter-in-law Kelly Shue, Athens; brothers Jesus, Jose and Miguel Puga; sisters Juana Maria, Margarita and Luiz Maria Puga Soria, Yolanda Puga Gonzalez and husband Javier; grandchildren Megan Shue, Christopher Davis, Gabriel Shue; Ian Shue; Rebecca Davis and Autumn.

Jasper Meredith
Services for Jasper Rain Meredith, infant, were held March 5, 2011, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home Chapel in Malakoff. Interment followed at the Athens Cemetery, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Meredith was born March 2, 2011, in Athens to Heather Holt and Justin Meredith and died on March 2, 2011, in Athens.
Survivors include his parents; brother Brandon Holt; grandparents Lisa and Bruce Holt and Verstine and Vester Meredith.

William Stroud
Services for William “Bill” Edward Stroud, 81, were held March 8, 2011, at Christian Life Center Church in Gun Barrel City with the Rev. Barry Boatright officiating. Interment followed at the Payne Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Stroud was born Dec. 31, 1929, in Mabank to Edna Phelps and Roy Stroud and died March 4, 2011, in Eustace.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1947 to 1967, eventually retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Stroud taught Army ROTC for the Dallas Independent School District. He also worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He was loved and will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Faye Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Ruth Stroud; daughters Jennifer Lyman and Shannon Rose; son Shawn Lonsfjord; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild on the way; siblings Rocky Stroud and Catha Nan Black; numerous nieces and nephews, in-laws and many friends.

John Westbrook
Arrangements for John Doyle Westbrook, 72, Gun Barrel City, were under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home of Mabank. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Westbrook was born Oct. 3, 1938, in DeQueen, Ark., to Ruby Shelly and Jessie Westbrook and died March 1, 2011.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Westbrook, Ladonia; children Kathy Smith and husband Mel, Ladonia; Tammy Gilliland, Malakoff; Rick Westbrook and wife Janie, Aztec, N.M.; brothers Ron Westbrook, Mabank; Jim Westbrook, Seven Points; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other family members and friends.

Ernest Inman
Graveside services for Ernest L. Inman, 82, Mabank, were held March 8, 2011, at Clear Creek Cemetery, under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Inman was born Jan. 2, 1929, in Dallas to Lucille Blackmon and Virgil Inman and died March 7, 2011, in Mabank.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He served from 1946 to 1949.
Inman was a minister and attended Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church in Eustace.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Laurel Harris.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Inman of Mabank; sons Daryl Inman and wife Robin; Doren Inman and wife Debbie; Danny Inman; daughters Irene Tjorve; Phebe McSwain and husband Darrell; Rachel Guess and husband Isaac; grandchildren Carla Caraway and husband Brandon; Rebecca Stewart and husband Omar; Alaina, Carmen, Linnea and Elida Inman; Jonathan, Anna, Daniel and Benjamin McSwain; Sophia, Scarlett, Luke and Carson Guess; and five great-grandchildren.
