Services for Robert Chester Blackman, 93, Cedar Creek Lake, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2008, at the Payne Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Diller officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Blackman was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Cleveland, Ohio and died March 7, 2008, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by wives Gertrude Joan and Helen Miriam; and brother Calvin Charles Blackman.
Previously of Warsaw, Ind., he had resided at Cedar Creek Lake for the past 12 years. He was a member of the Payne Springs United Methodist Church.
He was a plant engineer at General Motors Detroit Diesel Allison Division from 1940 to 1979 and director of plant engineering 1974 to 1979.
He was a member of the American Lung Association, Central Indiana; American Society Heating and Refrigeration Engineer; Sigma XI Honorary Scientific Associations; Theta Tau Honorary Scientific Associations, American Institute of Plant Engineers; Crestview Christian Church; Torch Club in Indianapolis; Scottish Rite Murat Temple.
Survivors include his daughters Judith Ann Harvell, Cedar Creek Lake; and Jane Blackman Lossing, Kensington, Md.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and wife Blackman, Mabank.
Services for Roy Benedict, 81, Tool, were held March 12, 2008, at Cedar Creek Memorial Park with Stephanie Whitney officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Benedict was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Quitman and died March 10, 2008, in Athens.
He had resided in Tool for the past 10 years and was of the Baptist faith.
He was a fleet service clerk and veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife Gloria Benedict, Tool; daughters Pam Woods and husband Doyle, Tool; and Debra Whitney and husband Dale, Mesquite; son Charles Benedict and wife Cathy, Alba; brothers Howard Benedict, Tyler; and James Benedict, Palestine; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services for Chris G. Anderson, 42, Gun Barrel City, were held March 12, 2008, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brent Tucker officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Anderson was born May 12, 1965, in Dallas and died March 8, 2008, in Gun Barrel City.
Previously of Irving, he had resided in Gun Barrel City for the past seven years and was of the Baptist faith.
He was a Christian who prayed and read his Bible daily. He was a Realtor at Excite Realty and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his parents Gailya and Gaylord Anderson, Gun Barrel City; daughter Katelynn Anderson, Dallas; sister Holly Gilmore, Gun Barrel City; nephew Brad Gilmore, Gun Barrel City; other family members and many friends.
Pallbearers were B.G. Pierce, Tom Chapman, Richard Smith, Allan McMenamy, Geryl Mortensen and John Fosque.
Services for Jane Greenwell, 75, Mabank, were held March 10, 2008, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Fred Cooper officiating.
Interment was in Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Greenwell was born Aug. 4, 1932, in Allen and died March 8, 2008, in Tyler.
Previously of Irving, she had resided in Mabank for the past 24 years and was of the Baptist faith.
She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1980 and was a telephone operator. She was the strength of her family.
Survivors include her husband George Greenwell, Athens; sons David Garrison, Muskogee, Okla.; William Garrison and wife Yvonne, Eustace; and Ronald Garrison and wife Evelyn, Mabank; daughters Peggy Day and husband Randy, Irving; LeNora Rich, Wells; and Katherine McCullough and husband Rick, Muskogee, Okla.; stepchildren Michael Greenwell, Rusk; and Barbara Smalley and husband Danny, Terrell; 22 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; brother Cecil Ingram and wife Billi, Euless; sister Cecilia Edwards and husband Robert, Tyler; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Carl Day, Randall Day, Kenneth McCommons, David Rich, Chuck Rich, David Strawn, Terry Garrison, Timmy Garrison and Jesse Garrison.
