Margaret
Crooker
Services for Margaret “Lucille” Crooker, 69, were held under the
direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
Crooker was born Sept. 22, 1938, in Port Tampa, Fla. to Ruby and Ernest
Peavey and died March 15, 2008, at Baylor Waxahachie Hospital. She was
preceded in death by her brother E.F. “Boe” Peavey and son Terry Wayne
Morrow.
The family would like to express our love and gratitude to the many
family members and friends who helped make her final days comforting.
She had five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her brother Dallas Peavey; and sister Ernestine
Grimes; her children Andrew, Robin, Katie and Eric Morrow and Arika
McConnell.
Fern Menton
Services for Fern Menton, 77, Payne Springs, were held March 15, 2008,
in the Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home with the Rev. Jerry Brown
officiating.
Interment was in Kemp Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek
Funeral Home in Mabank.
Menton was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Kaufman and died March 12, 2008, in
Mesquite.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Menton in 2003.
Previously of Dallas, she had resided in Payne Springs for the past 10
years and was of the Baptist faith.
She was a homemaker and member of the Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post No. 4376.
Survivors include her son David Menton and wife Wanda, Scurry; daughters
Martha Gray and husband Gary, Mesquite; and Cheryl Stenovitch and
husband Brent, Payne Springs; adopted son Digger Muller, Dallas; six
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Florence Arrington, Fort
Worth; brother Roe Vinson and wife Cathrine, Shreveport, La.; nieces,
nephews, other family members and many friends.
Pallbearers were Rich Dowdy, Chad Gentry, David Jones, Brian Gentry,
Jason Boles and Chad Price, with honorary pallbearer Rodney Vinson.
Don Roberts
Services for Don Alan Roberts, 43, Kemp, were held March 15, 2008, at
the Anderson Clayton Bros. Chapel with James Larry Page officiating.
Interment was in the Cana Cemetery in Van Zandt County under the
direction of Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
Roberts was born May 13, 1964, in Wills Point to Melba Chandler and J.D.
Roberts and died March 12, 2008, in Kemp.
He was preceded in death by his brother Irvine Kee Roberts in 1962.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kemp. He owned and
operated the Seven Points RV Park.
Survivors include his wife Belva Roberts, Kemp; sons Lance Joseph and
Landon James Roberts, Kemp; parents Melba and J.D. Roberts, Canton;
sister Norma Sheram and husband Tom, Athens; brothers Brady Roberts and
wife Carla, Canton; and Russell Roberts and wife Monica, Canton; six
nieces and nephews; a host of friends and other relatives.
Zelma Wright
Services for Zelma Lois Sanford Wright, 95, Gun Barrel City, will be
held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral
Home Chapel in Kemp with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating.
Interment will follow in Pyle Prairie Cemetery in Kaufman County.
Wright was born June 10, 1912, in Opelika, Ala., to Ora Nellie Grier and
Sellie Kyle Sanford and died March 16, 2008, in Terrell.
She was a waitress at Anderson’s Cafe in Dallas until she retired at age
75.
Survivors include grandsons Charles Prophitt and wife Judy, Gun Barrel
City; and Tommy Prophitt and wife Cheryl, Gun Barrel City;
great-granddaughters Elizabeth Kreinbring, Irving; and Amanda Parker,
Log Cabin; great-grandsons Chuck Prophitt, Ennis; and Jamon Prophitt,
Ennis; seven great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family
members and friends.
