Kenny Dupree
Services for Kenny Lee Dupree, 53, were held March 17, 2012, at Tool
Cemetery in Tool, officated by Harold Gunstanson.
Deupree was born Dec. 15, 1958, in Athens, to Betty and Jerry Dupree and
died March 9, 2012.
He enjoyed arranging music and playing guitar.
He was preceded in death by his sister Kimberly Dupree, and grandparents
Edna and Charles Dupree and Annie and Jessie Johnson.
Survivors include his children, Jimmie, Nathan, Ashley, Nicole and Jessie;
three grandchildren; his parents; sisters Kathy Chewning and friend Hubert
“Topper” Radican, of Gun Barrel City, Rebecca Anthony and husband Rocky
Simmons, of Seven Points, Andrea Tinch and her husband Kyle of Middletown,
Ohio; brother-in-law Jackie Chewning; other family members and many friends.

Kenneth Rountree
Services for Kenneth Wayne Rountree, 64, of Gun Barrel City, will be held at
2 p.m. Friday, March 23, 2012, with Rev. Leonard Eason officiating.
Rountree was born Feb. 19, 1948, in Dallas, to Nell Campbell and William
Rountree and died March 16, 2012.
He was a member of Reserve Officer Training Corps and the class of 1966 at
W.W. Samuell High School. He loved to fish and was in Bass Masters for many
years.
He volunteered as a fireman for Gun Barrel City and was a Vietnam veteran of
the U.S. Army, receiving two purple hearts while in D-Troop, 3rd Squad, 5th
Calvary, 9th Infantry Division.
He was also an armored helicopter specialist, fourth class.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Darlene; children Billy Rountree and
wife Dawn, Sherryl Polster and husband Robert, Wayne Work and DeeAnn Green;
his mother; brother John Rountree and wife Sherri; 12 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; many other family members and friends.

Shelia Cheatwood
A graveside service for Shelia Derane Cheatwood, 62, of Tool, was held March
20, 2012, at King Cemetery, with James Jennings Jr. officiating.
Cheatwood was born Sept. 10, 1949, in Tallapoosa, Ga., to Grace Huffstetler
Irvin and Eugene Cheatwood and died March 18, 2012, in Tyler.
She was preceded in death by her father and grandparents Alice and George
Dave Cheatwood and Lois and James H. Irvin.
Survivors include her mother; brothers Gary Grinstead, Perian L. Cheatwood
and wife Betty and Eugene Thomas Cheatwood and wife Leslie; sisters Janie
Cheatwood and Deborah Grinstead; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and
great-nephews.

Martin Slagle
Services for Martin Randell Slagle, 72, of Kemp, will be held at a later
date.
Slagle was born Jan. 15, 1940, to Lorraine and Luther Slagle and died March
14, 2012.
He met Jane Hathcock in school; they were married in 1958, shortly after
graduating and had two boys. She died in 1999, after 40 years of marriage.
He then married Ruth Trevino in 2000 and they built a home at Persimmon
Creek.
He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).
He is preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Rita.
Survivors include his wife; sons Randy and Bruce Slagle; stepdaughters
Brenda, Blanca, Linda and Belinda; 25 grandchildren, and 16
great-grandchildren; four brothers; three sisters; thousands of IBEW
brothers and sisters throughout the country.
