Services for Weldon Hubert Jones, 81, Mabank, were held March 22, 2008, at the Zion Baptist Church in Rowlett. Pastor Dayvid Griggs and the Rev. Henry Brown officiated. Interment was in the Jones-McShan family cemetery in Rowlett under the direction of Thomas and Sons Funeral Home in Kaufman.
Jones was born Nov. 1, 1926, in Rockwall County to the late Abigail McShan and Vivion V. Jones and died March 17, 2008, at his home.
He attended public schools in Rockwall County. He retired from Garland Concrete as a concrete foreman. He was a member of the Elam Grove Baptist Church in Mabank.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years Vera Jones, Mabank; sons Thomas, Joseph and wife Margie, Weldon Jr., Jimmy and wife Gwen, Willie and wife Sandra Max, Barry, and Al Lorenzo Jones; daughters Margaret and husband James Strange; and Carolyn Bradley; sister Clarissa Jones Simmons; brother Orville and wife Mable Jones; 30 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Services for Zelma Lois Sanford Wright, 95, Gun Barrel City, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 22, at Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with the Rev. Dub Henry officiating. Interment will follow in Pyle Prairie Cemetery in Kaufman County.
Wright was born June 10, 1912, in Opelika, Ala., to Ora Nellie Grier and Sellie Kyle Sanford and died March 16, 2008, in Terrell.
She was a waitress at Andersonís Cafe in Dallas until she retired at age 75.
Survivors include grandchildren Charles P. Prophitt Jr. and wife Judy and Thomas E. Prophitt and wife Cheryl, both of Gun Barrel City; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Kreinbring, Chuck E. Prophitt, Jamon A. Prophitt, Amanda Parker, Timothy Prophitt and Hope Prophitt; great-great-grandchildren Anita Anderson, Christopher Gressett, James Gressett, Amber Kreinbring, Tristy Prophitt, Madison Prophitt, Nicholas McGill, Chad Prophitt and Chris Prophitt; great-great-great-grandchildren Delilah Gressett, Thomas Gressett and Charely-Lee Faye Gressett; numerous other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Charles P. Prophitt Jr., Thomas E. Prophitt, Chuck E. Prophitt and Jamon A. Prophitt.
