EUSTACE–Eustace Bulldog football standout Blake Ward has been
selected to play in the annual Texas High School Coaches
Association (THSCA) All-Star football game July 31 at the Alamo
Dome in San Antonio. The game will be played at 7:30 p.m.
Ward is the first Eustace football player ever selected to play
in the game.
There’s a very good reason Ward was selected to be on the team.
Over the course of this season, Ward scored 12 touchdowns as a
running back on offense, after gaining 1,211 yards.
On defense, he played middle linebacker and racked up 105
tackles, 16 tackles for a loss and seven quarterback pressures.
Over the course of the senior’s high school football career,
Ward recorded more than 300 tackles, while helping the Bulldogs
make the playoffs three straight years.
He was also named the 2011-12 District 6-2A Defensive Player of
the Year. He was also named the 2011 All-Henderson County
Defensive Player of the Year.
At the THSCA All-Star game, Ward will play outside linebacker
for the North Team, coached by Abilene Wylie High School
football coach Hugh Sandifer.
As for Ward’s future plans, he will report with the Air Force
for basic training just less than a month after the All-Star
game.
