Knife and Hawk championship slated April 14

MALAKOFF–The 13th annual Texas State Knife & Tomahawk Championship will be held once again in Malakoff, April 14 and 15. Matches start 9 a.m. both days.
The event will be held behind the Malakoff Community Center on State Highway 198 and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Malakoff and produced by the Cedar Creek Knife and Hawk Club.
The event is the World’s Largest Mountain Man-Style Throwing Event, a fact documented in 2008 by the Guinness World Records.
The event is open for the public to watch, and there will be vendors available as well. Plus there will be a primitive bow competition held April 13 and 14.
In the competition, there will be cash prizes awarded in the Men and Women pro divisions, and trophies and prizes in the amateur and junior divisions.
There will also be a chance to win a painting by Muzzleloader Magazine artist Donny Hickmott.
Entry fees are $25 for both Knife and Hawk for the professional divisions; $15 for each in the amateur divisions; and $10 each for the junior/youth division. Late registration is 8 a.m. Saturday, April 14.
Pre-1840 dress is required of all contestants.
