Troy Lee Cox
Services for Troy Lee Cox, 74, Gun Barrel City, were held April 22,
2009, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Brent Tucker
officiating. Burial was in Ebeneezer Cemetery in Pittsburg under the
direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Cox was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Pittsburg and died April 19, 2009, in
Athens.
He was a Dallas police officer for 28 years and was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Mabank for 38 years.
He and his wife Barbara served the community through years of volunteer
work in local nursing homes and the Mabank Good Samaritan Community Food
Bank.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Jo Cox, Gun Barrel City; son Jerry
Cox and wife Teresa, Augusta, Ga.; daughters Colleen Cheek and husband
Joe, Mabank; Connie Christopher and husband Dale, Athens; Cindy Tanner
and husband Douglas, Katy; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; sister Ila Faye O’Daniel; Phoenix, Ariz.; other
family members and a host of friends.

Cindy Junell
Services for Cindy Junell, 73, Eustace, were held April 6, 2009, at the
Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Charles O’Neal officiating. Burial
was in Payne Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral
Home in Mabank.
Junell was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Yarnaby, Okla., and died April 3, 2009,
in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father William Davis, mother Maggie
Turner, sisters Betty Harrison and Martha Townsend and brother Buck
Rankin.
She was a homemaker and had resided in Eustace for the past 41 years.
Survivors include her sons Steve Junell and wife Sue, Conroe; Mike
Junell, Southlake; daughter Carolyn Tucker and husband Lynn, Crandall;
brother J.B. Davis, Lubbock; sisters Jane Stuart, Lubbock; and Jane
Townsend, Atcheley, Okla.; grandsons Jacob Junell and wife Keri; John
Junell and wife Eden: Stephen Hunter Junell; Jeff Tucker and Billy
Maynard; granddaughters Maegan Roberts and husband Thomas; and Bonny
Dawson and husband Simon; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Bailey, James Bailey, Shane Hettich, John Mayo
Chappell, Josh Mayo Chappell and John D. Chappell.
Billy Jean Smith
Services for Billy Jean Smith, 42, Kemp, were held April 21, 2009, at
the Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Merchant
officiating. Burial was in Baird Cemetery under the direction of Eubank
Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Smith was born April 5, 1967, in Dallas and died April 15, 2009, in
Kemp.
He was a handyman and a good father.
Survivors include his wife Arlene Smith, Kingston, Okla.; sons Bryan and
Tyler Smith, both of Kemp; daughters Sabrina Lawer, Waco; and Stephanie
Phillips, Sherman; father Billy Jack Smith, Kemp; grandchildren Julie
and Jake Phillips, sisters Elaine Smith, Kemp; and Tammy Cessie of
California.
Charles Shannon
Services for Charles Elmer Shannon, 80, Trinidad, were held April 19,
2009, at the Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff with Brother Tom Bolton
officiating.
Shannon was born March 21, 1929, in Searcy, Ark., to the late Cariebell
M. Danniels and Elmer Outo Shannon and died April 16, 2009, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Charlene Shannon and
two sisters.
He was a retired juvenile officer with Dallas County and a member of the
Trinity Baptist Church. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Lake Masonic
Lodge No. 1431 and Eastern Star 1114.
Survivors include his wife Tamarlyn Shannon; sons Ralph Shannon, Gun
Barrel City; Mark Thomson Dandridge and Russell Dandridge; daughters
Sheryl D. Shannon, Grand Prairie; and Desma Hart; brothers Roy and David
Shannon; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. |
