Elaine Adkisson
Services for Elaine Pollock Adkisson, 64, of Mesquite, will be held at 2
p.m. Monday, April 30, 2012, at the Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel.
Adkisson was born May 11, 1947, in Dallas, to Betty Cox and Howard Pollock
and died April 25, 2012.
She was a graduate of W.W. Samuell High School in 1965 and attended Texas
Tech and the University of Texas at Arlington.
She retired in 1999 from AT&T after 32 years of service. She was a Methodist
and member of Pleasant Mound United Methodist Church in Dallas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas James Adkisson and her
father.
Survivors include her son, Scott Adkisson and wife Rebeccah of Mesquite; his
mother; sister Donna Sparks and husband Malcolm of Houston; niece Jamie
Sparks of Seattle Wash.; grandchildren Charles and Thomas Adkisson and Teri
Grace; other family members and many friends.

Jerrie Hill
Services for Jerrie Janelle Hill, 65, will be held at a later date.
Hill was born Feb. 20, 1947, in Wellington, to May and Ernie Hill and died
April 19, 2012, after a long battle with cancer.
She spent the early part of her life in Andrews, but moved to the Dallas
area in early 1970 with her former husband of 25 years and her son.
She was affectionately known as “Nana” and was known for her witty fun
loving humor, never without a great quip.
She was the best friend to Eva Sutherland; a loving sister and a caring,
devoted mother to her only son, as well as an amazing grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister JoAnn George and nephew
Tony Lee Stanford.
Survivors include her son, Rickie Lynn Allen Sr. and his fiancee, Elisa Ann
Voss, of Crandall; grandchildren Clint Allen and wife April of Kaufman,
Danielle Williams and husband Tim of Kaufman, Christopher Zieseniss and
girlfriend Angela Furr of Quinlan, Rickie Allen Jr. and Justin Allen of
Forney; great-grandchildren Savannah, Lexi, Kayla, Miley, Brinlynn and
Brooklyn Allen, Haleigh, Austen and Stephen Williams, Colby Zieseniss;
brother Johnny Hill and his wife, Fran, of Mabank; nieces and nephews Allan
Ray Stanford and wife Tammy; Angie Jwanouskos and husband Steve, David Hill,
Delina Larson and Ann Hagewood.

Mary Locke
Services for Mary M. Locke, of Mt. Pleasant, were held April 27, 2012, at
Providence Baptist Church, in Tool.
Locke was born April 2, 1928, in Rattan, La., to Zaidee Evans and Cleavy
Vogel and passed away April 25, 2012, in Mt. Pleasant.
She was a member of Providence Baptist Church in Tool for 35 years. She
enjoyed sewing, cooking, oil painting, quilting, crocheting, hunting and
fishing.
She was a volunteer as First Lady in Tool, from 1969 to 1981, and a Tool
City Council Member from 1990 to 1994.
She taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir for 32 years. She was
a beautician at the Cedar Creek Nursing Home and served on the United Land
Board of Directors.
Her first priority was making sure her family was cared for.
She was preceded in death by husbands, Buddy Metcalf, Oran White, and
Millard Locke; her parents; brothers Buck, Charles, and Paul; sisters
Mildred and Willa Mae.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmy White of Mabank, Robert White and wife
Lori of Dunnellon, Fla., and Tommy White and wife Ronda of Mt. Vernon; seven
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Leroy Brewer
Graveside Services for Leroy A. Brewer, 78, of Mabank, will be held at 2
p.m. Sunday (today), April 29, 2012, at Oaklawn Cemetery in Mabank.
Brewer was born January 19, 1934, to Velma and Roy Brewer and died, April
23, 2012.
He served in the Army and had many special memories of Korea. He enjoyed
drag racing and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his son Tab Brewer and wife Sonja; brother Jerry Brewer
and wife Vivian; companion and best friend Kathleen Smith; six grandchildren
and eight great-grandchildren.

Richard Kelley
Services for Richard L. Kelley, 71, of Mabank, were held April 28, 2012, at
the First United Methodist Church.
Kelley was born Nov. 1, 1940, to Mildred and Kyle Kelley and died April 24,
2012.
He was a member of Cedar Creek Masonic Lodge 1431 and worked with the Boy
Scouts of America in four different states.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Mabank and
enjoyed reading and wood working.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son David Kelley.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie; daughter Kathryn Conner and husband Jim;
many other family members and friends.

Joe Brackeen
Services for Joe C. Brackeen Jr., 85, of Mabank, were held April 28, 2012,
with interment following at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Brackeen was born May 6, 1929, in Wills Point, to Eddie Brewer and Joe
Brackeen and died April 24, 2012.
He retired in 1990 after 42 years as a truck driver for ETMF/ABF and member
of Union 745 in Dallas.
He was a member of the VFW Post 4376, in Seven Points, serving five times as
the post commander and twice as the District 30 Commander.
He was also a charter member of the American Legion Post 310 of Gun Barrel
City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Stella Brackeen, son Randell
Brackeen and sister Billie Love.
Survivors include his wife Betty James Brackeen; daughters Darlene and
husband Billie Pryor of Kemp, Vickie and husband Le Roy Kuzel of California,
Tammy Yarborough and husband Rusty, of Kansas; sons Mark Blair and wife
Carolyn of Longview, Bill and wife Debbie Alumbaugh of Kansas, sisters
Jackie Polei and husband Lee, Wanda Jacobs; brother James (Sonny) and wife
Pat Brackeen of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; numerous
nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Jason and Joseph Brackeen, James and Billy
Joe Pryor and Michael and Albin Norman. Honorary pallbearers were Mark Blair
and Bill Alumbaugh.

Margie Davis
Services for Margie Davis, 72, formerly of the Cedar Creek Lake area, were
held April 28, 2012, at the Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, in
Mesquite.
Davis was born July 18, 1939, to Lucille Bernice Pierce and Cassius Melvin
Payne and died April 21, 2012, peacefully in her sleep.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy E. Davis.
Survivors include her sons, Samuel Andrew, James Parker, Gary Glenn, and
Fredrick Alden Davis; a brother, Charlie M. Payne; many grandchildren;
nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family members.
