Services for Sue Ellen Yates, 63, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010, at the
Beautiful Acres Missionary Baptist Church in Scurry with the Rev. Shawn Garret officiating
under the direction of Moorhead Epps Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City.
Yates was born Aug. 29, 1946, in Kemp to Viola Hamilton and Louis Moseley and died April
30, 2010, in Kaufman.
She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew Joshua Linder.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Jerry Yates; children Lisa Yates and Linda
Catchings; grandchildren William Catchings III and Jessica Catchings; brothers Virgil
Moseley and Sammy Moseley; sisters Robin Linder; numerous other family members and a host
Lena Mae Byrne
Services for Lena Mae Byrne, 87, were held May 3, 2010, at the Moorhead Memorial Chapel
with the Rev. Norris Shelton officiating under the direction of Moorhead Epps Funeral Home
in Gun Barrel City.
Byrne was born May 1, 1922, in Brodhead, Ky. to the home of Martha Jane Hopkins and John
Jackson Mobley and died April 29, 2010, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Alton Bryant in 1966, second
husband John Byrne in 2001, son Larry and four sisters.
Survivors include her children, Robert Dennis Bryant; Pamela Forrester and husband Tony
Green; Debbie Myers and husband Gene; Carol Dolan; David Byrne and wife Syndi; brother
Austin Mobley; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews,
other loving family and many friends.
Services for Patricia Smith, 65, Gun Barrel City, will be held at a later date under the
direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Mabank.
Smith was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and died April 28, 2010, in Gun Barrel
She was preceded in death by her father Stanley Majewski and brother Edward Majewski.
Previously of Lewisville, she had resided in Gun Barrel City for the past nine years.
She was Catholic by faith and a member of the Eastwood Island Alohas.
Survivors include her husband, Patrick Smith, Gun Barrel City; son Timothy C. Smith and
wife Courtney, Lewisville; mother Mary Majewski, Pittsburgh, Pa.; sister Marie Erfort and
husband Philip, Gun Barrel City; sister-in-law Becky Hammond and husband Brad, Welland
Ontario, Canada; two nephews and three nieces; and many loving friends.
Betty Sue Richardson
Services for Betty Sue Richardson, 83, Tool, were held May 4, 2010, at the Oak Grove
Memorial Park in Irving with Josh McDonald officiating under the direction of Tomlinson
Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Richardson was born July 10, 1926, in Whitewright, the daughter of Willie Pedura and
Harold Thornhill and died May 2, 2010, in Cedar Lake Nursing Home in Malakoff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Stanley, Tommie and Jack Thornhill.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Irving.
Survivors include her husband Norman Richardson; son Jimmy Richardson and wife Michele;
sister Mary Cowan; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services for Lois Marie Wood, 84, Gun Barrel City, were held May 1, 2010, at the Eubank
Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Denny Burris officiating. Burial was in Morrow Chapel
Cemetery in Ola under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Wood was born July 4, 1925, in Saline, Ark., and died April 28, 2010, in Irving.
She was preceded in death by her parents Bertha and Elmer Shields, husband, two brothers
and one sister.
Previously of Irving, she had resided in Gun Barrel City for 12 years and was Baptist by

Yother was born Sept. 14, 1936, in Woodstock, Ill. to the late Elizabeth Wyse and George
Smith and died April 25, 2010, in the East Texas Medical Center in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Gary C. Yother, June 22, 1998.
She was retired from Wal-Mart.
Survivors include her daughters Donetta Coleman, Zoe Ann Taber, Vicki Nelson, Susan
Mitchel and Ashia Yother; sons Tim Cantlin, Martin Gambino, Anthony Gambino and Daniel
Yother; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and three stepchildren.
Graveside services for Susan L. Francis, 57, Kemp, were held May 3, 2010, at the Trinidad
Cemetery under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Francis was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Columbus, Ohio, and died May 2, 2010, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband Terry Francis and mother. Alice Huffman.
She was a housewife.
Survivors include her father, Lenman Huffman; son Craig Francis and wife Rachel, Trinidad;
daughters Ashley Francis, Tool; and Angela Briley and husband Toby, Reynoldsburg, Ohio;
brother Bob Huffman; sisters Carolyn Swiggett and Peggy Watters; grandchildren Liliann
Francis, Jenna Briley and Griffin Briley; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Michael Glen Carden, 50, will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 8,
2010, at the Empowering Life Church, 2909 Highway 121, in Bedford.
Carden was born Jan. 6, 1960, and died April 29, 2010.
He was a graduate of W.T. White High School in Dallas and was employed by United Parcel
He was an avid bowler and had a great heart. He will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather Sharon and Mike Hinkle, Euless; siblings Mark
and Shelly Carder, Euless; children Stepanie Woods and Jimmy Woods, Gun Barrel City; son
Marcus Carden and three grandchildren.
