CCL Methodist tourney draws 124

KEMP–The trio of Jim Taylor, James Hollar and Tim Vaughn took first
place at the annual Cedar Creek Lake Methodist Church benefit golf
tournament Monday.
The trio combined for a net score of 50.0 in the scramble tournament,
which drew 124 golfers in 31 teams to the Cedar Creek Country Club.
The team of Roger Owen, Jeff Johnston, Tim Harper and Brian Harper were
very close behind, taking second with a net score of 51.25.
Brian Harper also posted the men’s longest drive.
Third place went to the team of Jimmy Butler, Jim Butler, Billy Butler
and Buckley Butler, who posted a 51.50 net score.
Ken Barnes (who was with Bill Richardson, David Beery and Seth Douglas)
posted the men’s closest to the pin shot.
On the women’s side, the group of Janet Noblitt, Susie Johnson, Gayle
Robinson and Gayle Brummett posted both the shot closest to the pin (by
Noblitt) and the longest drive (by Robinson).
Proceeds from the tournament went toward the church’s scholarship and
education efforts.

Girls needed for Mabank Rodeo
Queen contest

MABANK–Girls are being sought to compete in the 53rd annual Mabank Rodeo
Queen contest.
Queen nominees must have access to western clothing and a horse through
the entire event, scheduled to run Monday through Saturday, June 23-28.
The Queen will be crowned Wednesday, June 25, and will preside over the
annual rodeo, which opens Thursday, and will lead Saturday’s traditional
parade.
Girls from the eighth grade through high school seniors are eligible to
apply. Complete the form below, and return it to the Mabank Fire Station
by Thursday, June 5.
