Dallas Spring Quartet surprises Mabank students
Special to The Monitor
MABANK–Recently the teachers and students of Mabank Junior High and High School were pleasantly surprised by a live performance of the Dallas String Quartet (DSQ).
Mabank Independent School District (MISD) Superintendent Dr. Russell Marshall perceived that sharing an electric classical concert was the perfect way to express his appreciation for a phenomenal school year.
The Dallas String Quartet did not disappoint, bringing the students to their feet throughout the concert. Performing songs such as Guns ‘N Roses iconic ballad Sweet Child of Mine to Katie Perry’s modern day hit Fireworks the DSQ shared their inspiring unique blend of classical string instruments and classic rock.
Members of the DSQ have been bringing their love of music to others since its founding in 2007. The group is comprised of award-winning violist and founder, Ion Zanca, cellist Gaston Colloca, and violinists Jorge Caldelari and Tatiana Glava. They perform as a traditional classical quartet, and as an electric quartet for discerning audiences.
The musicians have performed for former United States President George Bush, owner of the Dallas Cowboys Jerry Jones and owner of LA Lakers Jerry Boss.
They are favorites among the fashion and design scene to include Jean Paul Gaultier and Laura Mercier.
Members of the quartet have also appeared with Amy Grant, Josh Groban, Chicago and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and were recently featured in a documentary called “Eco-Harmony.”
Dallas String Quartet has performed at a wide array of venues throughout Texas and the United States, and has been featured in numerous broadcast and print media such as The Wall Street Journal, ABC, ESPN, CW33, NBC and are now available on Pandora.
