Barnhart
Services for James Oscar Barnhart, 73, of Kemp, will be held at a later
date.
Barnhart was born Sept. 22, 1938, and died May 12, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Barnhart.
Survivors include his daughter, Linda Sadler of Fort Worth; grandchildren
Casey Puckett of Dallas, Chelsey Winn of Washington, D.C.; sister William
Payne of Chillicothe, Ohio.
He was the water supervisor for the West Cedar Creek Municipal Utility
District for many years until his retirement.
Mary
Elizabeth ‘Liz’ Pierce
Services for Mary Elizabeth “Liz” Pierce, 90, were set to be held at 12:30
p.m., Saturday, May 26, 2012, at Restland Memorial Cemetery Memorial Chapel,
located at 13005 Greenville Ave. in Dallas.
She was born Oct. 11, 1921, in Athens, to Phebe J. and Arthur M. Brown and
died May 22, 2012.
Pierce was a long-time resident of Gun Barrel City. She was employed by IBM
in Dallas for 25 years as a PBX operator and later as a secretary. After she
retired and moved to Cedar Creek Lake, she became an active member of many
organizations, including Aley United Methodist Church, Martin’s Hundred
Chapter Colonial Dames XVII Century, Daughters of the American Colonists,
Sarah Maples Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, John Cavet
Chapter United States Daughters of 1812, Texas Branch Sons and Daughters of
the Pilgrims, Root Seekers, Eastern Star and Cedar Creek Lake Women’s Club.
She loved genealogy and held many offices in the organizations.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward J. Pierce, brothers
Williams Brown and Charles Brown, sister Jean Corley, brother-in-law Lane
Corley and her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Pylant Cabbiness, and son-in-law
John, Gun Barrel City; grandchildren James R. Pylant and wife Kilene,
Dallas; William E. Pylant, Abilene; Trina Reichek and husband Milt,
Weatherford; Nick Cabbiness, Phoenix, Ariz.; brother-in-laws Richard Pierce,
Dallas; and B.R. Pierce, Irving; great-grandchildren Cortland and Colby
Cabbiness, Tulsa, Okla.; Josh Littlefield, Weatherford; and Jayme
Littlefield, Wichita Falls.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Tri-County Genealogy
Library, located at 132 Market St., Mabank, Tx. 75147.
Douglas
Armstrong
Services for Douglas D. Armstrong, 57, of Conroe, were held on Friday, May
25, 2012, at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Chapel with interment following at
King Cemetery.
Armstrong was born May 15, 1955, in Mabank, to Viola and Homer Armstrong and
died May 21, 2012.
Douglas was just a “good old country boy,” who worked hard to take care of
his family. His world revolved around his children, grandchildren, family
and friends. He had a huge heart and could always be counted on to help when
it was needed. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as well as tending his garden
and chickens. He will be missed by many and never forgotten. If you had met
him once you had met a friend for life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Byers, and brother James
Simpson Armstrong.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickie; two daughters, Leslie Armstrong
and husband, Danny; and Susan Jones, all of Conroe; five grandchildren,
Jesse, Kyrie, Kaleb, Brandon and Grace; brothers Kenneth Armstrong and wife,
Debbie, of Conroe; and James Armstrong and wife Renee, of Willis; sister
Sharon West and husband David, of Willis; father Homer Armstrong, of Willis;
as well as many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and many
friends.

Colleen Varner
A grave side service for Colleen Gail Varner, 71, of Trinidad were held at
Mankin Cemetery May 22, 2012, with Michael Warren officiating.
Varner was born June 28, 1940, in Los Angeles, Calf. to Ethel Evangeline
Graves and William Henry Varner and died May 21, 2012.
She worked as a dietary aide for a nursing home, and she was a Messianic
Israel believer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Larry and Terry Varner,
sister Rilla Enix, nephew Richard White and niece Cynthia Boothby.
She is survived by her daughter, Amanda Wilson, and grandchildren Xoe Varner
and Benjamin Wilson.
Larry Joe Fetty
Grave side service for Larry Joe Fetty, 60, of Mabank, were held at 11 a.m.,
May 26, 2012, at Eubank Cedar Creek Memorial Gardens.
Fetty was born Aug. 14,1951, in Lincoln, Neb., and died May 23, 2012, in
Mabank.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aurora Ortiz and Harold W. Fetty.
He is survived by five sons, William, Larry Jr., Jeremy, Charley, Joel;
three daughters, Brenda, Mandi and Ashley; sister Rita Murphy; step-sisters
Tammi Kearns, Ruth Glasscock and Dorothy Rolison.
