James Wood
Services for James Leroy Wood, 88, of Cedar Creek, were held May 27, 2011,
at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Dallas.
Wood was born on his father’s birthday, Aug. 20, 1922, to Ola and Oren Wood
and died May 23, 2011, after an extended illness.
He was the second son of five children.
Wood married Evelyn Kreiter Nov. 29, 1942, and left to serve his country on
the very next day.
While in the 96th Army Division, he served in the Pacific Theatre.
The couple had two children named Janette Reece and Jimmy Joe Wood.
He served as a faithful servant as an Elder Deacon at Saner Avenue Church of
Christ for 44 years.
Wood moved to the Cedar Creek area in 1994.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Evelyn Wood; daughter Janette Reece
and son Jimmy Joe Wood.
Nellie Everitt
Services for Nellie Opal Woodard Everitt, 98, were held May 24, 2011, in the
Moorhead Epps Funeral Home Chapel in Gun Barrel City with the Revs. Charlie
Woodard and Odell Terrell officiating. Interment followed at Sharon Cemetery
in Winnsboro.
Everitt was born March 28, 1913, in Winnsboro to Eula McMullan and Thomas
William Berry and died March 21, 2011, in Mabank.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son Larry Lee Woodard; husbands
Garner Howard “Dick” Woodard and Herman E. Everitt; six brothers and two
sisters.
Survivors include children Mary Jean Rayon and husband Craiton; James “Jim”
Howard Woodard and wife Ruby Lee; Charlie Jack Woodard and wife Mary Edith;
Truman Ray Woodard and wife Shelly; stepchildren Jean Terrell; Flo Garvin
and husband Scott; Lorea Stanfield; Darrell Everett and wife Kay; 21
grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 29 great-great-grandchildren; one
great-great-great-grandchild; numerous other family members and many
friends.
Ann O’Neil
Mass for Ann Marie O’Neil, 83, Athens, were held May 26, 2011, at St.
Edwards Catholic Church. Interment followed in Athens Cemetery, under the
direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home.
O’Neil was born Dec. 27, 1927, and died May 21, 2011.
Survivors include son “Bob” O’Neil, Milwaukee, Wis.; daughters Donna O’Neil;
Patricia Brannon, Athens; Heather O’Neil, Denton; Lauren Dix, Gun Barrel
City; brother “Jack” Horrigan and wife Betty, Avon, Conn.; grandchildren
Kyle, Morgan, Rebecca, Priscilla and Matthew. |
