season

MABANKThe spring season of the Tri-County Soccer
Association ended with a big day of soccer and fun.
Teams from Corsicana, Longview, Athens, Fairfield and the Mabank area
played in the tournament, and between games, the kids got to have
T-shirts and caps air-brushed by Tom Hanna.
Also, the Party Jumpers out of Dallas were there with lots of blow-up
toys to play on.
Teams in the U6 and U8 group all received participation trophies, and
all of the U10 and up received first and second-place trophies.
Below is a list of the winners in this years tournament.
U10 girls first Tri-County Ambush and second Henderson County Freedom.
U10 boys first Corsicana Sting and second Tri-County Destroyers.
U12 girls first Longview Hurricanes and second Tri-County Skyhawks
U12 boys first Tri-County ShockForce No. 3 and second Tri-County
ShockForce No. 1.
U14 girls first Henderson County Hotshots and second Tri-County Lady
Bombers.
U14 boys first Tri-County Rage N Pumas and second Los Pumas.
U16 boys first Tri-County Vipers No. 2 and second Tri-County Vipers
No. 1.
U16 girls first Tri-County Handle With Care and second Tri-County
Stealth Bombers.
U19 girls first Tri-County Comets and second Luck of DA Draw.
U19 boys first Tri-County Xtreme (no second place).
Area Fishing Reports
ATHENS Water off color, 72-77 degrees; 0.46 foot high. Black bass are
good on black spinnerbaits and buzzbaits at night and during the day on
drop shot rigged finesse worms and weightless flukes. Crappie are fair
to good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are fair on nightcrawlers.
CEDAR CREEK Water stained; 73-78 degrees; 0.35 foot low. Black bass
are fair early on Yellow Magics, later switching to spinnerbaits and
Carolina rigs. White bass are good on TailHummers and Rooster Tails
around points and over humps. Hybrid striper are fair on live shad.
Crappie are good on jigs around boathouses and over brushpiles. Catfish
are fair on nightcrawlers.
PALESTINE Water stained; 73-78 degrees; 0.96 foot high. Black bass are
fair to good on spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and Rat-L-Traps. Crappie are
fair on minnows and jigs over brushpiles. Hybrid striper are fair on
live shad. White bass are good on Humdingers. Catfish are fair to good
on nightcrawlers and cheese bait.
RICHLAND CHAMBERS Water off color; 72-78 degrees; 0.68 foot high.
Black bass are fair on spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and Texas rigs. White
bass and hybrid striper are fair to good on Humdingers, topwaters and
live shad. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs around brush. Catfish
are good prepared baits.
TAWAKONI Water stained; 73-78 degrees; 5.41 feet low. Black bass are
fair on Carolina rigs, chatterbaits and medium diving chartreuse/brown
crankbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are good on
Humdingers and topwaters. Striped bass and hybrid striper are fair on
live shad. Catfish are good on cut bait.
