7th annual Round the Lake regatta

Saturday's regatta got off to a slow start with 14 sailboats participating and lots of
sunshine, but just a whisper of wind over Cedar Creek Lake. Area players named All-ET

CEDAR CREEK LAKEThe Tyler Morning Telegraph listed 11 Cedar Creek Lake area players
on its girls and boys All-East Texas soccer teams.
The All-East Texas girls team was announced in the Tyler papers Saturday edition,
with the boys team following in the Sunday edition.
Eustace junior Lindsey Pate was the highest-ranked of the 11 local athletes, as she was
listed on the All-East Texas girls second team. Pate was named the District 31-4A
co-Defensive Player of the Year by district coaches in March.
First-team girls selections were dominated by Tyler Lee (three players, including Player
of the Year Johna Germany), Pine Tree (three players, including Newcomer of the Year
freshman Amanda Wallin), T.K. Gorman (two players), Grace Community (two players and Coach
of the Year Mitch Smith) and Longview (two players).
Joining Pate on the second team were players from Lee, Pine Tree, Longview, Chapel Hill,
Gorman and All Saints.
Fifteen teams were represented on the girls Honorable Mention list.
Eustace players selected included Chelsea Grimes and Shelby Stegent, joined by Mabank
players Natalie Torres, Jesse Toms and Ashton Norman.
On the boys side, all of the local players listed were on the Honorable Mention listing,
which included players from 16 teams.
The Eustace boys won a record number of matches, while the Mabank boys made their
first-ever appearance in the state playoffs.
Regional finalist Kilgore knocked Mabank out of the playoffs, led by the All-East Texas
Player of the Year and District 32-4A MVP Jose Barron.
Kilgore also had one player (senior Oscar Davila) named to the first team, while coach
Michael Bradshaw was named Coach of the Year.
Grace Community had three players listed on the second team All-East Texas, joined by
players from Brook Hill (two), Kilgore, Lindale, Whitehouse (two) and Lee.
Eustace players on the Honorable Mention list were Zach Bennett and Evan Arambula. They
were joined by Mabanks Thomas Heller, Ricardo Robles and Ryan Floyd.
