Memorial services for Joel Vernon Ardoin, 84, Trinidad, were held June 5, 2010, at the First United Methodist Church in Trinidad with his son Joel Allen Ardoin officiating under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Ardoin was born Oct. 14, 1925, in Vidrine, La., and died May 31, 2010, in Trinidad.
He was preceded in death by his parents Olivia Mayeaux and Millard Ardoin, daughter Mary Louise Ardoin, granddaughter Fonda Gail Ardoin, grandson Tony Lane Ardoin, sons-in-law, Freddie Colvin and Mike Buchanan and daughter-in-law Annetta Ardoin, three sisters and one brother.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was stationed at Moffett Field in California and aboard the USS Alaska.
Survivors include his wife Barbara Ardoin; sons Robert C. Ardoin, Reddell, La.; Joe Allen and wife Joanna Ardoin, Eunice, La.; and Tommy Ardoin, Trinidad; daughters Bobbie Jo Ardoin and husband Bobby, Easton, La.; Bea Askew and husband Forest, Tool; Pam McClintock and husband Steve, Weatherford; Debbie Buchanan, Richards; Susie Colvin and Wes Robinson, Kemp; Terry Hawkins, Binghamton, N.Y.; and Lisa Foster, Athens; sister Cedar Fontenot; 28 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, send memorials to bone cancer or cancer research.

Donald Prda
Donald Michael Prda, 60, died May 31, 2010, in Payne Springs.
Prda was born Sept. 3, 1949, in Dallas to Mae Mixson and George Prda.
He was a forklift driver for 30-plus years and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local 745.
He served in the U.S. Army as a door-gunner on helicopters during the Vietnam War and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Prda, Haltom City; mother Mae Prda, Payne Springs; daughter Janie Mae Prda, Haltom City; brothers James Stanley Prda, Dallas; and Ronnie Paul Prda, Mesquite; numerous nieces and nephews.
