Cope to play THSBCA All-Star contest
Monitor Staff Reports
EUSTACE–Recent Eustace High School graduate Lucas Cope has been selected to play first base for the North squad in the annual Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association All-Star Game in Round Rock Saturday, June 14.
Cope played several different positions this past spring, including pitcher and first base, helping lead the EHS Bulldogs to the school’s first baseball playoff appearance in 19 years.
The Bulldogs tied with Kaufman and Kemp for the District 13-3A championship, and defeated both teams in a mini-tournament to determine playoff seeding.
The Bulldogs later lost to Pittsburg in an area baseball championship series.
Loop coaches later named Cope the district’s Most Valuable Player.
Cope was also honored as the EHS Male Athlete of the Year during the annual end-of-year all-sports banquet.
