Former prisoner of war James Edwin Ray speaks to the
Rootseekers Genealogy Society members.
He started off his talk about his family’s migration from
North Carolina to Texas. Then he took us back in his
memories to the time he was a POW in Vietnam. He spent six
years nine months and four days as a captive.
He flew the F105 Thunder Chief that was built for duty in
Europe. He was stationed in Thailand but was shot down close
to the Gulf of Tonkin while on a mission to blow up a
trestle bridge.
