New siren alert system installed
Kemp
to conduct siren tests in the coming days
Monitor Staff Reports
KEMP–After a close call with an area tornado touching down at
the Cedar Creek Country Club in Kemp last year, the city of Kemp
has seen the installation of five warning sirens Friday.
It was action that has been close to the heart of mayor Donald
Kile since the area’s close call.
“This is a very important safety issue for our community,” Kile
told The Monitor. “We want people to have the best chance of
taking precautions in the event of a tornado.”
The city planned to conduct tests this week. “We’ll be
fine-tuning the system throughout the week, so if you hear it
going off, it will be a test,” Kile said.
