MHS grad 2nd at TX Women’s Open
Monitor Staff Reports
GARLAND–Mabank High School graduate and touring professional Adrienne
Gautreaux-McDonald took second at the Texas Women’s Open golf tournament
at Eastern Hills Golf Course June 26.
Gautreaux-McDonald was edged out on the final hole by 15-year-old Tanya
Wadhwa of McKinney, who sank a five-foot birdie putt to give her 139 for
the tournament and a one-shot win.
Wadhwa, who carded a three-under 67 on the final round, became the
youngest Texas Women’s Open winner ever.
Gautreaux-McDonald finished the final round with a two-under 68,
shooting an even-par 140 for the tournament.
The second-place finish will help Gautreaux-McDonald’s efforts toward
landing a spot on the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA)
Tour.
Gautreaux-McDonald now plays on the Futures Tour, and is the assistant
pro at the Cedar Creek Country Club.
