Strickland, Collie named All-ETexas
Monitor Staff Reports
EUSTACE–Two Eustace High School players were named to the Tyler Morning Telegraph’s All-East Texas teams recently.
Both incoming senior Braden Strickland and incoming junior Josie Collie were named to the honorable mention baseball and softball teams, respectively, by the Tyler newspaper.
Softball players were listed in the Tyler paper’s July 1 issue and baseball players were listed in the July 2 issue.
Selected as the Pitcher of the Year by District 14-3A baseball coaches, Strickland was the only 14-3A player listed on the newspaper’s All-East Texas baseball teams, joining players from 27 other teams on the Honorable Mention list.
Collie was a first-team outfield selection by 14-3A coaches, and also was given Honorable Mention, but a number of other 14-3A softball players – primarily from No. 2 Van and No. 25 Canton – were also named to All-East Texas teams by the Tyler paper
The highest-ranking 14-3A players were Canton sophomore Lexi Callan (the district’s offensive player of the year), who was named as the All-East Texas first-team catcher, and Van junior Jessica Marshburn (the district’s MVP), who was a first-team outfield pick.
One additional Canton player, Bri Chamberlain, and five Van players – Taylor Wilson, Taylor Harris, Chelsea Smith, Chelsey Moore and Dara Herndon – were given Honorable Mention.
Three Wills Point players – Savannah Foster, Shelby Cunningham and Macy Unger – were also given Honorable Mention by the Tyler newspaper.
