Cope, Compton, Sallings All-State

AUSTIN–Eustace High School graduate Lucas Cope was recently named to the Class 3A All-State baseball teams in two different positions.
The Texas Sports Writers Association picked Cope as a second-team outfielder, and also gave him honorable mention as a first baseman.
Cope’s teammate, incoming EHS senior Ryan Compton, was also an honorable mention pick at third base.
Kemp High School graduate Nick Sallings was also an honorable mention designate at third base, according to listings published in The Tyler Morning Telegraph’s Tuesday edition.
Texas sportswriters named Snyder senior pitcher Brent Bollinger as the Class 3A “Player of the Year.”
Texarkana Pleasant Grove incoming senior pitcher Michael Wacha was one of three pitchers (along with Bollinger) named first-team All-State.
In May, Wacha helped the Pleasant Grove Hawks knock the Kemp Yellowjackets out of the state playoffs in the area round for the second straight year.

state challenge
