Softball league starting
Monitor Staff Reports
KERENS–A summer softball league, aimed at allowing high
school players to hone their skills for next spring, is now signing up
players.
As envisioned, the 12-team league would play doubleheader games in the
Kerens area on six Saturdays, to avoid conflict with any UIL activities.
Games would last 60 minutes, using ASA rules (six runs maximum per
inning) with nine players on each team.
Team fee is $500, with signups to end Friday, Aug. 10.

Guide service offers
seminars

Special to The Monitor
CEDAR CREEK LAKE–A full-time, year-round fishing guide service on Cedar
Creek Lake, BIGCRAPPIE.com
specializes in crappie, white bass and hybrid striper.
BIGCRAPPIE.com was started by my love and passion for fishing. I have
been fishing since as far back as I can remember.
I had a full-time profession, but decided it was time to pursue my dream
career of fishing. In 2003, my employer announced future changes in the
company, and I saw the opportunity to change my career.
My first year guiding was a slow year for business, but by my second
year, business picked up.
A customer caught the lake record crappie. This gave me the extra piece
of publicity I needed.
Later that same year, a youngster caught the Junior Angler state record
and lake record crappie while on a guided trip with me.
Every year has been more successful than the last. I now have a good
customer base from the Dallas and Fort Worth areas, and have earned the
respect of many anglers for continually producing fish even when the
bite is tough.
I also purchased a new boat that seats more customers in shaded comfort
for fishing in the middle of hot summer days.
I now guide for all species. I have learned that most folks want to
catch what is biting best, and I aim to please. If that means catching
white bass, hybrid striper or cats, then that is what we do. I simply
want everyone to have fun and go home happy.
I also offer seminar trips that teach how to be a more successful
angler. We cover:
• how to locate the fish,
• read a graph, and
• techniques to use to catch the fish you want.
Seminar trips cover multiple techniques and styles of catching fish,
rather than what is working that particular day or time of year. Seminar
trips are for the fisherman who wants to learn how to do it for himself.
I have three kids of my own, and love to take out kids and teach them
how to out-fish their parents. It is no surprise that kids pick up the
techniques I teach and catch more fish than adults, a lot of times.
You can read the latest fishing report for Cedar Creek Lake on my web
site, BIGCRAPPIE.com, and also check
out the pictures of the latest catch.
Book your trip today by calling me, Chuck Rollins, at (903) 288-5798.
