named All-State

EUSTACE–Two Eustace Bulldog standouts were recently named to the Collin Street
Bakery/Texas Sports Writers Association Class 3A All-State baseball teams.
The TSWA Class 3A selections were announced in the Tyler Morning Telegraph’s Friday
edition.
May graduate Chris Compton (a four-year starter) and incoming senior Braden Strickland
(who is expected to become a four-year starter next spring) were both named to the
Honorable Mention list.
Compton, who was the District 14-3A Utility Player of the Year, started at second, catcher
and pitched for the Bulldogs, and was listed as a second baseman on the TSWA list.
Strickland, who was the district’s Pitcher of the Year, was named to the outfield on
the Honorable Mention list.
One District 14-3A standout, Mineola senior catcher Colton Bickerstaff, was named
first-team All-State by sportswriters.
Bickerstaff, who has signed with Nebraska, batted .542 with 10 home runs and 26 RBIs, and
scored 30 runs while amassing a .964 fielding percentage at the catcher’s position
during his senior season.
On the mound, Bickerstaff had an ERA of 2.44 with 118 strikeouts.
The Tyler newspaper announced the Class 4A TSWA all-state selections in its Saturday
edition.
Mabank was a member of District 15-4A this past spring, but the only district player
recognized was Mesquite Poteet senior pitcher Austin Blunt, who was named to the Third
