Roy Garner
Services for Roy Alton Garner, 61, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 16,
2011, at the Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home Chapel in Mabank.
Garner was born Jan. 1, 1950, in Corpus Christi to Millie Jean Eves and R.G.
Garner and died July 10, 2011, in Gun Barrel City.
As a great outdoor’s man, he loved to fish and hunt.
His workforce experience was with C.H. Collar in Dallas and Pace Industries
in Arkansas.
Garner was Baptist in faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Hilda and Pat Eves of
Mabank and Ivey and Raymond Garner of Eustace.
Survivors include his wife, Anabel Garner; sons Keith Garner and wife
Barbara, Tommy McClure and wife Michelle, Jody McClure; daughters Debbie
Garner, Sherri Hocutt and husband Wade, Kristie Wilkerson and husband
Jeremy, grandchildren Blane, Jacob, Michael, Kelsey, Nikki, Shy and Haley;
brothers Jimmy Garner, Jerry Don Garner and wife Linda, Dennis Garner and
wife Susan and Randy Garner.
Amos Cross
Services for Amos Pershing Cross, 93, were held July 16, 2011, at the First
Baptist Church in Tool with Bro. Sam Starr and the Rev. Brian Simon
officiating. Interment followed in Tool, under the direction of Eubank Cedar
Creek Lake Funeral Home in Mabank.
Cross was born Aug. 6, 1917, in Hannah, Okla., to Celia T. Coffee and
Raymond Cross and died July 12, 2011, in Decatur.
He was known as “Pappaw” to his grandchildren and “the Old Man” at General
Motors, where he worked on the assembly line.
Cross received great enjoyment from his grandchildren.
His special interests and favorite hobbies included fishing, gardening,
traveling, playing cards and dominoes.
One of Cross’s special memories was during World War II, where he served in
the U.S. Army in the 10th Mountain Division and received a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Annette Simon.
Survivors include his wife, Marcella Cross; son Seth Cross and friend Pam
Willis; daughter Carrie Starr and husband Sam; son-in-law Tim Simon;
grandchildren Brian Simon, Dee Anna Pommerening, Jennifer Cross, Devin Young
and Adam Starr; nine great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren. |
