Frank P. Winton III
A memorial service for Frank P. Winton III, 67, Gun Barrel City, will be
held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2009, at Hughes Funeral Home, 400 E.
Jefferson in Dallas. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Dallas/Fort
Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie.
Winton was born Nov. 5, 1941, in Port Arthur and died July 8, 2009, in
Mesquite.
He was a retired Dallas Police Officer and veteran of the U.S. Coast
Guard.
He was the owner of Motorcycle Leather in Seven Points and a member of
the American Legion and Gunslingers Motorcycle Club.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Dallas
Police Association Widows and Orphans or the Galveston State Park.
Clyde Drew Carter
Services for Clyde Drew Carter, 62, Eustace, were held July 13, 2009, at
the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Warren officiating under
the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Carter was born Feb. 6, 1947, in Alice and died July 9, 2009, in
Eustace.
He was an iron worker and veteran of the U.S. Army, having received the
Bronze Star Medal for Heroism. He had lived in Eustace most of his life.
Survivors include his sons Stephen Shane Carter and wife Natalie,
Athens; Bryan Drew Carter, Athens; and Brad Michael Carter and wife
Misty, Eustace; brother Audie Shane Carter and wife Judy, Florida;
sisters Jerry Lynn Monroe, Eustace; and Phyllis Jan Bacon, Canton; nine
grandchildren; aunts Josie McLendon, Verta Carter and Allie Faye
Trustee; other family members and many friends.
Pallbearers were Joe Gray, Jimmy Bradford, Kevin Reagan, Ronnie Riddle,
Morgan Clanton and Jeff Fuzzy Hall.
Honorary pallbearers were Audie Shane Carter, Jerry Harrod, Jim Price,
Larry Elliott and James Walsh.
Jerry Mandrell
Memorial services for Jerry Lynn Mandrell Sr., 51, Prairieville, were
held July 11, 2009. Close friends and family gathered together in honor
of a wonderful father, grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.
Mandrell was born Aug. 21, 1957, in Fort Worth and died July 8, 2009, in
Tyler.
He was preceded in death by his parents Nettie and Alfred Mandrell Sr.,
brothers Larry Mandrell and Alfred Mandrell Jr., and sisters Violet
Loften and Donna Bennett.
Mandrell was a factory worker for 18 years. He enjoyed writing poetry
and spending time with his family and friends.
He never met a stranger.
Everyone who knows him will tell you he would give the shirt off his
back to anyone who needed it.
His last gift was his most generous, the gift of life. He donated his
kidneys to two recipients.
Although he is gone, he will never be forgotten. He was loved by many
and will be missed by all.
Survivors include his sisters Norma Rivers, Ann Barrow and Kay Bynum;
son Jerry Lynn Mandrell Jr. and wife Kathy Lea; daughters Tasha Mandrell;
and Tiffany Mandrell and husband Christopher Cogbill Sr.; nieces Glenda
Mathies and husband Doug; Sherrie Ford and husband Donnie; Carrie
Rivers; nephews Bobby Rivers and wife Michelle; James Rivers Jr. and
wife Trina; David Rivers and Tracie Bennett; grandchildren Samantha,
Colton, Shannon, Kameron, Ethan, Brianna, Jacob, Colby and Christopher
Jr.; numerous other family members and close friends.
The family would like to say thank you and is grateful for all the
support and outreach of neighbors and friends. God bless you all.
Betty Wiegandt
Services for Betty Wiegandt, 85, Payne Springs, under the direction of
Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank, have not been planned at this
time.
Wiegandt was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Chicago, Ill., and died July 8, 2009,
in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Wiegandt, sisters Janice
Wiegandt and Carol Ann Schroder.
Previously of Denton, she had resided in Malakoff for 15 years. She was
a homemaker and Lutheran by faith.
Survivors include her daughter Pamela Carrel and husband Jerry,
Malakoff; son-in-law Jim Schroder, Grand Prairie; six grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren.
Wanza Thomason
Services for Wanza Gail Thomason, 68, Kerens, were held July 12, 2009,
at the Kerens First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Buddy Moore
officiating. Burial followed in the Kerens Cemetery.
Thomas was born Aug. 4, 1940, in Corsicana and died July 10, 2009, at
the Navarro Regional Hospital.
Survivors include her husband Beauford Thomason, Kerens; daughters
DeAnna Edmister, Midlothian; and Julie Ann McCord, Quitman; son Leslie
Ray Thomason, Wills Point; grandchildren Jacob McCord, Garland; Lauren
McCord, Dallas; Sara and Jenna Edmister, both of Midlothian; Allison and
Emily Thomas, both of Wills Point; and sister Katha Perry, Corsicana.
Price Howell Jr.
Services for Price Jimmie “Butch” Howell Jr., 55, Mabank, were held July
5, 2009, at the Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. James Renfro
officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in
Mabank.
Howell was born Aug. 11, 1953, in San Bernadino, Calif., and died June
27, 2009, in Gun Barrel City.
He had lived in Payne Springs since 1963, and was a veteran of the U.S.
Army.
He worked for Country Cleaning in the Cedar Creek Lake area for the past
nine years and will be missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Jenny Howell, Payne Springs; son Michael
Elmore, Payne Springs; daughter Courtney Elmore, Payne Springs; brother
Kevin Moore, Payne Springs; sisters Allison Elizabeth Howell, Plano;
Cynthia Annice Howell, Rowlett; and Samantha Leigh Howell, Garland;
parents Helene Howell, Grand Prairie; and Price Howell Sr., Gun Barrel
City.
Jack Forman
A memorial service for Jack Forman, 74, Log Cabin, was held June 29,
2009, at his home under the direction of his son-in-law Tommy Bryant.
Forman was born July 1, 1934, in Ponca City, Okla., and died June 29,
2009, at his home in Log Cabin.
He was a construction contractor and owner of Forman Manholes for 35
years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He was loved and respected by all those he crossed paths with. He was a
loving husband, Dad and Papa.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 57 years Bernice
Forman; daughters Nyoka and husband Tommy Bryant, Gun Barrel City; Patty
and Johnny Hagg, Log Cabin; Jackie and husband Jesse Perez, Palmer; and
Clara and Jesse Perez Jr., Log Cabin; 15 grandchildren; and 16
great-grandchildren.
The pain of losing this great man will be felt for many years to come.
We all love and miss you Papa. ’Til we meet again.
Paul Thomas
Services for Paul C. Thomas, 89, Gun Barrel City, were held at 11 a.m.
Thursday (today), July 16, 2009, at Tomlinson Funeral Home with Ken
Maddox officiating. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Irving under
the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Thomas was born Oct. 30, 1919, in Pauls Valley, Okla., to the late Mary
and Doc Thomas and died July 12, 2009, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his wife Louise Wright Thomas.
He was a member of the Beacon Church of Christ in Gun Barrel City.
He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He was tool and die maker for Texas Instruments.
He was a much loved, gentle man and will be greatly missed by friends
and family.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Thomas, Gun Barrel City; daughters Nena
Young and husband Eric Winkelmann, Shiloh; and Celia and Richard Lee,
Euless; sisters Frankie Weaver and Joy Biell; brother James Baker;
grandchildren Gena, Jeremy, Jennifer and Britany; three
great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled Veterans
Association.
Charles Lawrence
A memorial service for Charles “Chuck” Douglas Lawrence was held July
10, 2009, in Keller.
He died July 6, 2009, in McKinney.
He was a supervisor for Sprint in Gun Barrel City and former president
of the Mabank Lions Club. He was an avid fisherman and family man.
Survivors include his mother Ama Lee Lawrence, Princeton; son
Christopher D. Lawrence and wife Tara, Keller; daughters Amy Rachel
Lawrence; and Rikki Renee Anderson and husband Shane, Princeton;
grandchildren Alyssa and Shiloh Anderson; sisters Pat Kelly and Rhonda
Lawrence; and brother Jerry Don Lawrence.
Eloise E. Fisk
Services for Eloise E. Fisk, 94, Trinidad, were held July 15, 2009, at
Trinidad Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmy Steele officiating, under the
direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Fisk was born Dec. 24, 1914, to the late Gertha Gamblin and Harvey Lee
Otts and died July 13, 2009, in Malakoff.
She was employed by Daughtory Airway Pharmacy.
Survivors include her son Tony Fisk, Trinidad; daughter Barbara Sue
O’Brien, Lee’s Summit, Mo.; three grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchidlren.
Imogene Cook
Services for Imogene M. Cook, 80, Payne Springs have not been set at
this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek
Funeral Home in Mabank.
Cook was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Scarsdale, N.Y., and died July 13, 2009,
in Athens.
She was a retired sales clerk.
She is survived by a nephew Jeffrey Irion and wife Denise, Enchanted
Oaks; other family members and many friends.
Previously of Oklahoma, she had resided in Payne Springs for two years.
She was a helpful and caring neighbor and will be greatly missed. |
