Monitor Staff Reports
CEDAR CREEK LAKERegistration is continuing for the Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of
Commerces annual summer golf tournament.
Aptly named The Red Hot 18, its scheduled for Monday, July 26, at the
Cedar Creek Country Club.
Check-in starts at 7:45 a.m., followed by an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
Tournament co-chairs, Tim Lilly/State Farm Insurance and Robbye Grissom, are planning to
have the same popular event as in recent years, with around 100 players expected.
This is a fund-raiser for the chamber, and we encourage anyone of any skill level to
come out and join the fun, Grissom said.
The tournament is a four-person scramble with gross/net prizes, games, contests and
Mulligans, with a Hole-in-One Contest sponsored by Tri-County Ford.
Entry fee is $70 for individual players or $280 per team, which includes golf, cart, goody
bags, lunch and team pictures. There will be door prizes as well.
In keeping with the tournament date and the median temperature at Cedar Creek Lake in
summer, the descriptive name of Red Hot 18 Golf Tournament is definitely
appropriate, but the tournament has become a highly anticipated chamber event.
The popular chamber of commerce fund raiser always proves to be a success, offering good
advertising for sponsors, fun and networking for the players.
Besides Tri-County Ford, other sponsors at press time include cash underwriters Southside
Bank, Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman and Bobs Collision.
Sponsors also include Don R. Kinney CPA, Trinity Valley Electric Co-op, First State Bank
Athens/GBC Branch, Prosperity Bank Seven Points and GBC, TexasAbility and Dr. John Loar,
DDS.

Products, A+Professional of Plumbing, Statewide Surveying Service, Solar Turbines, Trinity
Valley Home Health & Therapy, A Yankees Locksmith Service and Tiffany Lilly

Chiropractic, Kali Realty Group, Cedar Isle Restaurant & Baja Beach Club, Don
Richardson and Debra Davis/Edward Jones Mabank.
Donors of items for goody bags and raffle/door prizes include Cornerstone Business
Solutions, Brookshires Seven Points, Statewide Surveying Service, Cedar Lake Nursing
Home, Edward Jones Mabank, Lakeside Family & Sports Medicine, Dr. John Loar and
