Services for William F. “Billy” Powell, 55, were held July 30, 2011, at
Eubank Memorial Chapel in Mabank with the Rev. James Jacobs officiating,
under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Powell was born March 6, 1956, in Louisville, Ky., to Mary Edith Sims and
Elmer Powell and died July 23, 2011, in Gun Barrel City.
He was a graduate of the Louisville College of Technology.
Powell moved to Dallas in 1984 to work for Texas Instruments, where he
received many certificates of merit.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Swansboro, N.C.
Powell’s special interests were spending time with the family, working on
cars and traveling.
He was Catholic in faith. He attended 12 years of Catholic school, where he
became an “Altar Boy.”
Powell served his country by joining the U.S. Marines, where he attained the
rank of sargeant.
He was preceded in death by his father; son William R. “Billy” Powell;
sister Vikki Powell and brother Michael Powell.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Powell Tilly; mother Mary Edith Sims
Powell; son Christopher Powell; daughter Nikki Powell; granddaughter
Madison, who affectionately called him “G-Paw,” Chicago, Ill.; sisters Diane
Perry and husband Mason, Patricia Sinkhorn and husband Lyle; nine nieces and
nephews; 10 great nieces and nephews; other family members and many loving
Services for Aileen Gray, 85, of Mabank, were held July 30, 2011, at Eubank
Funeral Chapel with Bro. Charles Tucker, the Rev. Don Childress and Sofie
Crawford officiating. Interment followed at the Elm Grove Cemetery in
Mabank, under the direction of Eubank Funeral Home in Canton.
Gray was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Canton to Mary Jane Johnson and Aldowin
Cephus Smith and died July 28, 2011, in Canton.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather Leon Bridwell and
brother J.L. Bridwell.
Survivors include husband Lewis Gray, Mabank; son Thomas Gray Jr. and wife
Jane, Plano; daughters Nancy DuBose and husband Sam, Mabank; Barbara
Linnenkugel and husband Gerald, Mabank; grandchildren Angela DuBose; Jana
Taylor and husband Steve; Thomas Gray Jr. and wife Julie; Melissa Gray, John
Hilario and Sherrie Linnenkuge; great-grandchildren Samantha, Joeylynn
Landon, Sidney and Breanna; sister Billie Ann Furrh and husband James Jr.
Pallbearers were Angela DuBose, Jana Taylor, Steve Taylor, Thomas E. Gray
Jr., Julie Gray, Melissa Gray and John Hilario.
Arrangements for Nancy Williams Grissom, 59, will be made at a later date.
Grissom was born June 7, 1952, in Warren, Ark., to Adeline Williams
Friedlander and Nolan “Pinchie” Williams and died July 24, 2011, in Athens
from colon cancer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Eric Branch.
Survivors include her husband Larry Grissom, Mabank; daughters Tracie
Stanfield, New York; Tammi Branch and husband Richard, Gun Barrel City; sons
Thomas Stanfield, Warren, Ark.; David Grissom and wife Cindy, Mesquite; Pat
Grissom and wife Dianna, Rockwall; brothers Stan Williams and wife Celeste,
Dallas; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and
nephews, other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Susan
Cohan Colon Cancer Foundation.
