Margaret (Giles) Ward
Services for Margaret Hazel (Giles) Ward, 82, Gun Barrel City, were held July 19, 2010, at
the Liberty Baptist Church in Gun Barrel City with the Rev. Dennis Woods officiating under
the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Ward was born Oct. 12, 1927, in Athens and died July 12, 2010, in Gun Barrel City.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Bud McGee, husbands Lawrence Earl
Giles Jr. and Charles Newitt, brothers Tobe, Jack, Punk and Billy McGee, sisters Laura Mae
Lewis, Ruby Trammell and Lois Jean Corley, granddaughter Jamie Radican and daughter-in-law
Rita Giles.
Survivors include her daughters, Edna Earl Dunkin and husband Charles, Terrell; Patricia
Ann Radican, Gun Barrel City, and Sandra Wheeler, Gun Barrel City; sons Raymond Lloyd
Giles and wife Linda, Longview; and Larry Glenn Giles, Mabank; 11 grandchildren, 16
great-grandchildren, other family members and many friends.Joe Nelson
Services for Joe Nelson, 87, Kemp, were held Aug. 5, 2010, at the Oaklawn Cemetery in
Mabank with the Rev. Chris Schoolcraft officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar
Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Nelson was born Oct. 5, 1922, in Pampa and died Aug. 2, 2010, in Tyler.
Previously of Dallas, he had resided in Kemp since 1983, and was a veteran of the World
War II Army Air Corps. He was married for 65 years and was Methodist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Hope Cade Nelson, Kemp; daughters, Jan Ragsdale and husband
Bill, Pampa; Jolynn Bennett and husband Michael, Dallas; and Lisa DeLong and husband
Lawrence, Kemp; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; other family and many
friends.
George Allen
A boots and blue jeans memorial for George Lewis Allen, 72, Athens, was held Aug. 6, 2010,
at the Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff with Bro. Tim Pyron officiating.
Allen was born Dec. 3, 1937, and died July 30, 2010, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Velma and George Allen, wife, Betty Allen, and
sister Martha Eggleston.
He was well-known and loved as a butcher at the Walmart in Athens for 10 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Terri Logan and husband Bryon; sons George Allen Jr. and
wife Cindy, and James Allen and wife Sandy; brothers, Charles and Harrold Allen; sisters
Lois Riddle and Gracie Malone; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; numerous
nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons, Joshua Allen, Chance Logan, Zachery Logan, Kason
Allen and James Allen. |
