Kemp ranchers to show mare at
Friesian Inspection
Monitor Staff Reports
ARGYLE–A Kemp ranch will have a mare in this year’s Friesian Horse
Inspection, set for Saturday, Sept. 12, in Argyle.
The
South Central Friesian Horse Association is hosting the inspection by a
team from The Netherlands, which is expected to draw more than 25
Friesian horses to Stargate Sport Horses, located at 2700 East
Farm-to-Market 407. This will be the largest gathering of Friesian
horses in Texas.
An exhibition of this exquisite breed will be held during the lunch
break. The public is invited. Refreshments and lunch will be available
for purchase.
Kemp ranchers Toni and Charlie Davis of JRD Ranch will be presenting
their beautiful four-year-old mare Simply Stunning AEF Jas’ (Jasper x
Tsjerk) to the Dutch inspection team.
The Davises acquired Jas’ last September. Actually, Charlie surprised
Toni by secretly purchasing Jas’ and had her delivered in the middle of
the night!
Owning a Friesian was something Toni had wished for since was a little
girl. Toni rides Jas’ in both English and Western saddles, and the
couple have ridden in parades in both Kemp and Mabank.
The Davises have been working very hard preparing Jas’ for the
inspection. Their goal is for Jas’ to be awarded the coveted “Star”
rating from the Dutch judges. The horses are rated on Racial Type,
Conformation and Movement.
Once each year, the Koninklijhe Vereniging Het Friesch Paarden-Stamboek
(KFPS), the mother registry of the Friesian horse in the Netherlands,
sends inspectors and judges to North America.
Horses of all ages will be inspected, including aged mares and
stallions. All newborn foals should be presented for ranking within the
registry.
