Mary M. Dyer
Services for Mary M. Dyer, 89, Mabank, were held Sept. 6, 2008, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ron Holloman officiating. Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Dyer was born July 13, 1919, in Boston, Mass., and died Aug. 31, 2008, in Mabank. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Dyer.
She was a homemaker. Previously of Massachusetts, she had resided in Mabank for the past five years.
Survivors include her daughters Carol Atkins and husband Jack, Mabank; and Irene Fletcher and husband Steve, Scottsdale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

John Gilbert Jr.
Memorial services for John Wesley Gilbert Jr., 76, Mabank, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Grace Fellowship Church in Eustace with John Smith officiating under the direction of Gordon-Foster-Brown Funeral Home in Athens.
Gilbert was born March 29, 1912, in Woodland Mills, Tenn. to Mollie and John Gilbert and died Sept. 2, 2008, at his daughter’s home in Gun Barrel City.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He married Neoma W. Spillman in Rockwall Jan. 5, 1966.
Survivors include his wife Neoma W. Gilbert, Mabank; daughter and son-in-law Jenny and Nick Nichols, Gun Barrel City; granddaughters Misty Nichols and husband Michael Biggs, Mabank; and Stacy Scrimshire and husband Kevin, Mabank; brothers Quinton Gilbert and wife Shelba, Jackson; Charles Gilbert and wife Jo, Cunningham, Ky.; and Neal Gilbert, Bardwell, Ky.; sisters Louise Hazelwood and husband Frank, Lewisville; Sue Mathis and husband Carl, Mayfield, Ky.; and Glenda Mitchell and husband Don, Fancy Farm, Ky.; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild Gavin Scrimshire; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
