Equine Extravaganza Scheduled for Oct. 12

ATHENS-The Henderson County Horse Committee will present its annual Equine Extravaganza from 5-9 p.m. Thursday Oct. 12, at the Fair Park Coliseum in Athens.
This year's presentation will cover
* feeding in drought conditions,
* all-in-one feeds and
* trailer loading on an unwilling horse.
The admission is free and there is a free dinner with serving starting at 5 p.m.
There will be door prizes.
There will be plenty of time to visit vendors, get free information and samples.
A Jody Cunningham horsemanship demonstration will start at 7 p.m.
She will discuss 10 basic moves every horse should be able to complete before it is considered "broke."
The Horse Committee is dedicated to the education of equine owners and producers in Henderson County.
Cedar Creek Marching Festival Set for Oct. 14

MABANK-Nothing is quite as stirring as the precision movements and musical stylings of a marching band.
This year, the 15th annual Cedar Creek Marching Band Festival is featuring 18 high school bands for full day of musical showmanship.
Mabank High School Band is again hosting the event and is scheduled to give an exhibition at 9 p.m.
Gates open at noon and the first performance begins at 1 p.m.
Finals begin at 7 p.m. for the top seven placing bands.
Admission is a mere $5.
Each band will have 15 minutes to exhibit its skills. Judges will be comparing the quality of their flag cores, precision of their marching and on the performance and selection of their music.
