Services for Gwendolyn Woods, 66, Trinidad, were held Nov. 3, 2006, at Mankin Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Glosup officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Woods was born Aug. 1, 1940, in Dallas and died Oct. 31, 2006, in Trinidad. She was preceded in death by her parents William Taylor and Fannie Virginia McFarland; brothers Elliot McFarland, Woodrow McFarland and Huel McFarland, sisters Mable Frazier, Lois O'Neal, Cleta Adams and Letha Goodell.
She was a homemaker and lifetime resident of Trinidad and a member of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her son Curtis Wayne Pace; daughter Angela Theon Thompson; granddaughter Stephanie Thompson; grandson Troy Thompson; brother Kenneth McFarland; nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.
Services for James Robert "Jim" Baldwin, 72, Mabank, were held Nov. 2, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Royce Riley and the Rev. Chris Schoolcraft officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery, Van Zandt County under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Baldwin was born Nov. 24, 1933, in Greenville and died Oct. 30, 2006, in Mabank. He was preceded in death by his father Guy Alton Baldwin, mother Margueritte Sue Presslar Baldwin and brother Guy Alton "Bud" Baldwin.
He was an insurance agent and veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in Korea. Previously of Austin, he had lived in Mabank since 1978 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Mabank.
He had a bachelor's and master's degree from East Texas State University.
He coached football for 14 years with the last five years being at East Texas State University.
He has been with State Farm Insurance for the past 29 years. He was a passionate caring individual that saw the bright side of any situation.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years Linda K. Baldwin, Mabank; sons Tory Jon Baldwin and wife Amy, Wills Point; Guy Dean Baldwin and wife Cheryl, Burleson; and Jeffrey David Baldwin, Mabank; daughter Deborah Lynn Williams and husband Michael, DeBerry; brother William David Baldwin and wife Mabel, Richmond, Va.; sister Pat Hooker, Dallas; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
Pallbearers were Charles Lyles, Joe Martin, Don Seymour, James Addy, Dan Malone, Gene Bates and Jerry Symns.
Joe D. Spawn
Services for Joe D. Spawn, 74, Mabank, were held Nov. 2, 2006, at Payne Springs United Methodist Church with the Rev. Patrick Papp officiating. Burial was in Payne Springs Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Spawn was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Dallas and died Oct. 31, 2006, in Mabank.
He had lived in Mabank since 1994 and loved fishing and travel. He was a member of Payne Springs United Methodist Church and was a past president of Methodist Men, head usher, trustee in church and choir member.
Survivors include his wife Sadie Spawn, Mabank; son David Spawn, Garland; stepson Wayne Thompson and wife Janice, Donie; sisters-in-law Helen Thornton, Gun Barrel City; and Mary Spawn, Terrell; sister Dorothy Sebastian and husband C.E., Dallas; nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Bill Lute, Luther McManus, Darrell Nichols, Bob Kerr, Johnny Moore, Larry Moore and Mike Spawn.
Honorary pallbearers were United Methodist Men.
Services for Frank Hurley, 75, Canton, were held today, Nov. 5, 2006, in the Eubank Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Alan Austin officiating. Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Hurley was born May 8, 1931, in Colorado and died Oct. 31, 2006, in Tyler. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Ruth Meyer, Joyce Koenig and Marge Barnett, and stepbrother Jack Hurley.
He had lived in Colorado, California and Germany. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years and was a mechanic.
Survivors include his sons Raymond Hurley and Tracy Copeland; daughter Margaret Hurley; and sister Myrtle McCarthy.
