Newton Andrews
Grave side services for Newton George Andrews, 65, Kemp, were held Nov. 3,
2011, in the Carmona Cemetery in Corrigan under the direction of Corrigan
Funeral Home, Inc., with Bro. Charlie Hodge officiating.
Andrews was born Nov. 5, 1947, in San Antonio, to Patricia M. (Bennington)
and Julius D. Andrews and died Oct. 30, 2011, at the East Texas Medical
Center in Tyler.
He was employed as a laborer for a paper mill in Oregon for many years and
was a Baptist by faith.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was awarded a
Bronze Star and National Defense Service Medal.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Lidia Andrews, Kemp; son Jerry Andrews, San
Diego, Calif.; daughter Pamela Andrews, Fort Worth; brother Bobby R.
Andrews, Palestine; granddaughter Gabrielle Andrews; numerous other
relatives and friends.
Betty Handlin
Services for Betty Joyce Mankin Handlin, 90, are set for 2 p.m. Friday, Nov.
4, 2011, at Anderson-Clayton Brothers in Kemp.
Handlin was born Sept. 26, 1931, in Bonham to Vera and Mirt Mankin and died
Nov. 2, 2011, at her home in Canton.
She enjoyed baking for her family, the Dallas Cowboys and sitting by the
fire with her children. Her favorite song was Hello Darlin by Conway Twitty.
She was a strong believer in God and a huge supporter of her family and
children getting along.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Thomas Handlin, and sons
Michael Thomas and Gregory Timothy Handlin.
Survivors include her sons, Walter Gene Handlin and his wife, Bernice,
Canton and Donald Chris Handlin and wife Brooke, Payne Springs; daughters
Cynthia Elaine Tucker and husband Jim, Payne Springs, and Danna Michelle
Hanlin, Mansfield; daughter-in-law Terri Lea Handlin; 17
great-grandchildren, all living in Texas, and her sister, Pat Holbert, and
her husband, Charles, Tool.
