Ellen King
Graveside services for Cathyrin Ellen King, 78, Terrell, were held Nov.
23, 2007, at Oakland Cemetery in Dallas with Pastor Chuck Weber of Cedar
Creek Lake United Methodist Church officiating under the direction of
Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home in Kemp.
King was born Feb. 26, 1929, in Dallas to Julia Roberts and Jesse
Charles King and died Nov. 19, 2007. She was preceded in death by her
parents, stepfather O.B. Campbell, brother Jesse Charles King Jr.,
sister Ethel Mae West in 1995, great-niece Julia Lea Randall Badgley in
1993 and her beloved “brother-in-law” Woodrow Wilson West in 2001.
King was born and raised in South Dallas on Carpenter Avenue. Her father
was a commissioned merchant at Farmer’s Market in its early years. She
later lived in Oak Cliff on Tenth Street behind Sunset High School with
her mother and stepfather.
She then lived 20 years in the Casa Linda area of Dallas with her sister
and brother-in-law Ethel Mae and Woody West who cared for her lovingly.
She had a happy smile for everyone and could recite her ABCs backward,
which made her the center of attention. She had resided in Country View
Manor Nursing Home in Terrell since December, 2001.
Survivors include her niece Rosalie West Randall and husband Jerry;
their children Jamie Leanna and James Perry Randall, Kemp; and Jerry W.
Randall Jr. and wife Laura, Weston; sister Gertrude “Trudy” Zella and
husband Jim; nieces Trudy Ann Allen and husband George, all of Jackson,
Miss.; and Margaret Ann Carlock, Garland.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Scottish Rite Children’s
Hospital in Dallas.
Robert
Lyles
Services for Robert Lyles, 73, Crandall, were held Nov. 23, 2007, at
Roselawn Memorial Chapel with Bro. Eddie Neese officiating. Interment
followed in the Roselawn Memorial Park.
Lyles was born July 6, 1934, and died Nov. 19, 2007, from cancer. He was
surrounded by family. He is preceded in death by daughter Sandra Miller.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years Jean Lyles, Crandall; daughter
Lisa McKenzie, Kaufman; son Bobby Lyles and wife Julie Lyles, Moore,
Okla.; sister Patricia Parker and husband Milton Parker; brothers Mike
Lyles and wife Loretta; and George Lyles; six grandchildren; and three
great-grandchildren.
Lorene Cliver
Services for Lorene M. Cliver, 79, Mabank, were held Nov. 21, 2007, at
the Crossroads First Baptist Church with Bro. Frank Upchurch
officiating. Burial was in Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of
Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Cliver was born July 24, 1928, in Henderson County to the late Willie
Allene Watkins and Colonel Turlington and died Nov. 19, 2007. She was
preceded in death by her parents and sister Hazel Fults.
She was a homemaker and member of Crossroads Baptist Church. She married
O.V. Cliver June 13, 1947, in Crossroads.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Robert Edwin and Jo Ann
Cliver, Tyler; sisters and brothers-in-law Allene and Eddie Sutton,
Mabank; Nelda and Marion Washam, Kaufman; Helen and Bill Chalk, Forney;
brother-in-law James Fults, Mabank; sisters-in-law Evelyn Turlington,
Waller; Nellie Gadberry, Orange, Calif.; grandchildren Jennifer and
husband Rob Shick, Pearland; James and wife Christine Cliver, Natick,
Mass.; and John Cliver, Houston; great-grandchild Michael Robert Cliver,
Natick, Mass.
Pallbearers were Kelly Nallie, Steve Sutton, Richard Sutton, John Cliver
and Rob Shick.
Marcia Howard
Services for Marcia Lee Howard, 76, Mabank, were held Nov. 20, 2007, at
Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home with the Rev. Alan Hobgood officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank
Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Howard was born Jan. 9, 1931, in Dallas and died Nov. 18, 2007, in
Athens.
She owned her own business and was a member of the Caney Creek Baptist
Church.
Survivors include her husband John Howard, Mabank; son Larry Howard,
Oklahoma; daughters Pamela Hobgood, Malakoff; and Sam Wilson, Wagoner,
Okla.; brother Jimmy Wayne Carrell, Virginia; five grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
Howard Stockton Jr.
Graveside services for Howard Alton Stockton Jr., 63, Athens, were held
Nov. 23, 2007, at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Stockton was born April 7, 1944, in Fouke, Ark. and died Nov. 19, 2007,
in Athens.
He was a carpenter and veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a lifetime
resident of Athens and was of the Baptist faith. He was a Mason at the
Eustace, Athens and Cedar Creek lodges.
Survivors include sons Robert Stockton and wife Dale, Forney; and Jeff
Stockton and wife Brandie, Gun Barrel City; daughters Misty Stockton,
Forney; Neill Dixon and Nycole Dixon; brother John Stockton, Athens;
sister Madelaine Dixon, Plano; and eight grandchildren.
Gena K. Vinson
Services for Gena Kanell Vinson, 39, Kemp were held Nov. 21, 2007, at
Anderson Clayton Funeral Home Chapel in Kemp with the Rev. Jim Renfro
officiating. Interment followed in the Kemp Cemetery.
Vinson was born Sept. 20, 1968, in Abilene to Barbara Sue Landreth and
Virgle Gene Vinson and died Nov. 17, 2007, in Kemp. She was preceded in
death by her father Sept. 16, 2003.
Survivors include her mother Sue Vinson, Kemp; sister Tambra “Tammy”
Vinson, Dallas; nieces Dana Jones and husband Fred, Runaway Bay; Dona
Hardin and husband Josh, Decatur; and Tana Hartmen and husband Brett,
Gunter; great-nephews Brody and Brac Jones, Runaway Bay; numerous
extended family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Fred Jones, Josh Hardin, Bret Hartmen, Dale Holdman,
Kristopher Holdman and J.J. Melton.
