Delena Keith
Services for Delena Kay Keith, 52, Mabank, were held Nov. 23, 2010, at the Moorhead Epps
Memorial Chapel with Brother Bobby Sapp officiating. Burial was in Elm Grove Cemetery
under the direction of Moorhead Epps Funeral Home in Gun Barrel City.
Keith was born July 2, 1958, to Lillie Ruth Sapp and Jerry Wallace Robertson and died Nov.
19, 2010.
She graduated from Mabank High School and received her degree in accounting from Trinity
Valley Community College.
She was employed by the Mabank Independent School District for several years as a
substitute teacher and was a member of the Prairieville Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy Keith; daugthers Amber Keith, Kaylena Keith;
stepdaugther April Keith; stepson Jim Keith and wife Holly; grandson Braydon Pierce;
mother Ruth Robertson; brothers David McAfee and wife Anita; Michael Robertson, Roger
Robertson and wife Diana, Clint Robertson and wife Bonnie; mother-in-law Faye Keith;
brothers-in-law Mark Keith, Bobby Joe Keith and wife Brenda; sister-in-law Paula Dayter
and husband Johnny; other family members and many friends. Frances
Becker
A memorial service for Frances Carlyle Becker, 86, Becker community, will be held at 10:30
a.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, at the Becker United Methodist Church.
Becker was born June 24, 1924, in Williamantic, Conn., to Louise and Elmer Carlyle and
died Nov. 17, 2010, at her home in Becker after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her son, Rick Ponthieuyx.
She was raised in Bryan, where her father worked for the Texas State Chemists Office
at Texas A&M University.
She graduated from Bryan High School and in 1946, met William Becker. He was newly
returned from World War II and assigned to Texas A&M University as assistant professor
of military science and tactics.
They were married in Caracas, Venezuela, in December, 1949, and spent the next two decades
serving their country as an Army family.
She met the challenge of keeping hearth and home and raising four children in all corners
of the world with style and grace.
After her husbands retirement from the military in 1971, she enjoyed her home in
Becker, her children and later, her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, William A. Becker; sons Bill Becker and wife
Jennifer, Terrell; Chris Becker and wife Gay, Becker; daughters Anne Tolbert and husband
Jerry, Woodville; Kimberly Barnet and husband Keith, Rowlett; and grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Tempie Armstrong
Services for Tempie Fayrene Armstrong, 83, were held Nov. 19, 2010, in the Eubank Memorial
Chapel with interment at King Cemetery under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral
Home in Mabank.
Armstrong was born Aug. 16, 1927, to Mattie Leona Williams and Dan Webster Bell and died
Nov. 11, 2010, in Mabank.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert L. Armstrong; parents, sisters Susie E.
Batchelor and Allie Lee Bell; and brothers William T. Bell, Hobert G. Bell, Harry W. Bell
and D.C. Bell Jr.
Survivors include daughter Martha Fay Armstrong, Kemp; sons Robert Lawson Armstrong and
wife Susie, Colfax; and Carl Wayne Armstrong and wife Janis, Kemp; four grandchildren;
eight great-grandchildren; other family members and many loving friends.
William Wethington
Graveside services for William Henry Wethington, 71, were held Nov. 20. 2010, at the Cedar
Creek Memorial Park under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Wethington was born Feb. 21, 1939, in Brooklyn, N.Y. and died Nov. 16, 2010, in Henderson
County.
He was preceded in death by a son, Brian Davis.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Wethington, daughters Carol Willingham and husband
Joseph, Irving; and Starla Davis, Gun Barrel City; son Travis Wethington, Gun Barrel City;
10 grandchildren; two sisters and many family members and loving friends.
Charles Rice
Services for Charles K. McCarty Rice, 82, were held Nov. 23, 2010, at the Eubank Cedar
Creek Memorial Chapel.
Rice was born in Porterville, Calif. and died Nov. 20, 2010, surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, adoptive parents Sally and Tip McCarty, brother
Lloyd Rice, sister Shirley Gaither and his first wife, Bette Jo.
He was a retired firefighter having served 28 years with the Dallas Fire Department. He
was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving his country during the Korean War.
Known as Charlie, he was a jokester, a straight-shooter, a man with integrity,
a great sense of humor, always laughing and a workaholic.
He was an avid artist, musician and gardener.
His favorite hobbies included playing the guitar, many other instruments and singing.
He was a Baptist by faith and member of the Central Baptist Church in Mabank.
Survivors include his wife, Frances L. Rice; son Timothy Rice and wife Dee; daughters Lisa
Mers and husband Roy, and Lori Stephenson and husband James; stepsons Anthony Scarlato and
wife Nora and James Scarlato and wife Susie; stepdaughter Julie Whatley and husband Jon;
nieces Kim Diamond and husband John and Amy White and husband Brandon; 14 grandchildren;
seven great-grandchildren; other family members and many loving friends.
Leroy Young
Services for Leroy Young, 52, Ben Wheeler, were held Nov. 23, 2010, at the Grace Bible
Baptist Fellowship in Canton. Burial was in Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler under
the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Young was born June 22, 1958, to Jannie Voyles and Fred Young and died Nov. 20, 2010.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Pamela Kay Young.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Young, Ben Wheeler; brothers Bobby Gene Young,
Salisbury, Mo.; Frankie Young, Purden, Mo.; and Chris Abbe, Malakoff; sisters Shirley
Milam, Longview; and Minnie May Craver, Edgewood.
Pallbearers were Thomas Blue, Olan Dorsey, David Young, Kirt Hodge, Randy Turner, Danny
Milam, Robert Russell, Aaron Blue and Jimmy Lamphrey.
Paisley Hudson
Services for Paisley Michelle Hudson, 4 months, Athens, were held Nov. 22, 2010, at the
Faith Church in Athens. Burial was in the Athens Cemetery. Leon Wallace and Roger Johnson
officiated under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Malakoff.
Hudson was born July 16, 2010, in Athens and died Nov. 18, 2010, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by an aunt, Emily Koonce.
Survivors include her father, John Hudson; mother Ashley Koonce; grandparents Stacy and
Frank Hudson, Athens; Angela and Anthony Hill, Athens; Christina and Chris Koonce, Mabank;
great-grandparents Diane and Commie Larkin, Betty and Don Redic, Connie and Jerry Dunn,
Rita and Jim Colbert and Ruby Hudson; great-great-grandparents Leola Lynch, Gladys Twomey,
Bernice Tinsley and Birdie Dunn; uncles Derek, Christian, Hayden, Holden Koonce, A.J.
Hill, Frank Jr.; aunt Shaterika Hudson and husband Ty; and cousins.
