Gun Barrel City Nationwide Insurance Agency owner Mike Moore enjoys
a ride in the Nationwide NASCAR showcar that was on display at his
recent open house. The car was a popular attraction at the fun event.
The day was a warm, beautiful fall day that encouraged friends and
business leaders to come by and take a look at the awesome car, enjoy
hamburgers with all the trimmings and a cool drink as they welcomed the
new office, located in the Gun Barrel Office Center, across from city
hall.
“We’re excited to make this commitment to the Cedar Creek Lake
community,” Moore, owner of the agency, said.
The office is staffed by Moore and Karen Kelso. Between them they have
12 years experience in the insurance industry.
Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment from 9 a.m.
to noon on Saturdays. The office number is (903) 603-9339.
TVCC
presents dinner show ‘Anybody for Tea?’ Dec. 4-5
Special to The Monitor
ATHENS–Dinner and a show anyone?
The theater students at Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC) are
offering entertainment of both the dramatic and the culinary kind next
week when they present “Anybody for Tea.”
The show will be performed at 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 4-5, in
the ballroom – which is located on the top floor of the Student Union
Building.
“We decided to do this performances after watching the UIL competition
we hosted last year,” TVCC drama instructor Laurie Durrett said.
“One of the schools did the show and we all talked about how fun that
would be to do for a dinner theatre show,” she added.
Reservations are required for the show and the cost of the dinner
theater performance is $20.
The show was originally scheduled as part of the department’s fall
lineup, but was canceled after a fall storm caused flooding in the
auditorium.
“Then the students came forward and said they would take the show and do
all of the work themselves,” Durrett said.
“The students have really embraced the show,” she added.
The show will be directed by student Kyle Williams.
The dinner menu will include salad and soup, chicken cordon bleu, green
beans almandine and fruit cobbler.
The play, a comedic who-done-it by C.B. Gilford, stars Hildegarde Hodge
(Randal Doud) and six other old women with nothing better to do than
stir up trouble.
The seven begin to spy on an unsuspecting homicide detective named
Dennis O’Finn (James Svetlik) through his window in the apartment across
the street.
O’Finn relentlessly tries to explain this to his boss, Captain Williams
(Tyler Berg), and asks for a transfer.
Abernathy (Brittany Steddum) comes up with a plan to murder one of the
other old women. The first do go is Elizabeth Ellsworth (Ahne Scheild).
O’Finn, along with Kramer (Tyler Bachor), goes to investigate the
homicide, only to find Hodge, Nettie Norton (Nancy Forsyth), Amantha
Abernathy (Brittany Steddum), Lucy Long (Amanda Underwood) and Birdie
Beauregard (Ana’Leese Provau) anxiously awaiting his arrival.
All the while, the maid (Chelsea McFarlain) gives small hints to the
detectives to put them on the right track.
However, to keep O’Neill around, the group must kill again.
