ETMC triage on
smart phone
Special to The Monitor
ATHENS–ETMC Athens has expanded its presence in the growing
mobile market through a partnership with iTriage®, a
consumer healthcare application that gives users on-the-go
access to medical information and providers.
Mobile users have quick and easy access to symptoms,
diseases and hospital information.
iTriage is available as a free download through the iPhone®
and Android® mobile device App Stores, and any
Internet-enabled device at
www.iTriageHealth.com.
According to the most recent Nielsen statistics, 40 percent
of mobile consumers in the U.S. now own a smart phone, with
50 percent adoption predicted by the end of 2011.
This growing trend has led ETMC Athens to reach out to
mobile users in the community by providing convenient access
to information about the hospital and its services.
Schumacher Group, the nation’s third largest emergency and
hospital medicine management firm, is partnering with ETMC
to bring iTriage to ETMC Athens and other ETMC hospitals
throughout the region.
This state-of-the art technology gives East Texas residents
the resources to learn more about a specific medical
condition and make the most informed decision about where to
seek treatment. iTriage lets users:
• research medical symptoms.
• learn about possible causes and treatment options.
• obtain medication information for treatment of a specific
condition.
• find detailed ETMC information like services, specialties,
hours of operation and turn-by-turn directions.
“Our partnership with iTriage allows us to provide more
information about the services we offer and helps our
patients make informed decisions about where to seek
attention for their medical needs,” administrator of ETMC
Athens Pat Wallace said.
“We are proud to offer the latest technology to our
community, which reinforces our commitment to enhancing the
patient experience,” Wallace added.
4-H Clover Kids get educated about
animals
Special to The Monitor
EUSTACE–The Henderson County 4-H Clover Kids have had two
field trips in the last two weeks. They went to the Tindel
Farm in Eustace to get some hands on training with sheep,
Boer goats, chickens of various breeds, ducks, and two
breeds of heifers; one with long hair and one with short
slick type hair.
They were shown how to use a comb for long hair and a brush
for the short hair with the cattle and how to use a show
stick in setting them up and placing their feet. They were
also invited to attend the Dash for Cash Clinic in Athens on
Dec. 9 to learn more and to watch the show the following
day.
They are also preparing for the County Food Show coming up
in January 2012 and made a trip out to the Childress Farm.
Andrew Childress gave a cooking lesson starting with washing
your hands, then measuring, mixing and baking a yummy
Broccoli Quiche, while the Clover Kids watched with
interest.
4-H is proudly supported by the United Way Fund. For more
information about 4-H, contact the AgriLife Extension Office
at (903) 675-6130 which is now located on the third floor of
the Henderson County Court House.
