past MHS, 72-45
Monitor Staff Reports
MABANKThird-ranked Martins Mill took a quick lead and added to it throughout a 75-42
win over the hosting Mabank Lady Panthers Tuesday night.
The Lady Panthers were scheduled to play in the Wills Point tournament this weekend before
returning home Tuesday, Dec. 7, to host another top-10 squad, fifth-ranked (3A) Bullard
Lady Panthers, with a 4:30 p.m. freshman contest opening a three-game slate.
Next weekend, Dec. 9-11, the Lady Panthers will travel to Brownsboro to play in the Great
East Texas Shoot-Out before returning to host Wills Point Tuesday, Dec. 14.
Each of the last few years, the Martins Mill Lady Mustangs have secured Class 1A state
tournament berths, and they showed superior quickness and excellent court awareness
against the Lady Panthers.

Roberts (15) and Taylor Munns (23) during the third-ranked Lady Mustangs' 72-45 win over
the hosting Lady Panthers Tuesday.
Martins Mill players were, on average, taller than the Lady Panthers (aside from 6-2
Olivia Pannell), and they consistently limited Mabank to a single shot per possession.
The Lady Mustangs opened a 26-11 lead in the first quarter and stretched that lead to 20
points by halftime, 41-21.
In the third quarter, the Lady Panthers tried to chip away at the Lady Mustangs
lead, but Martins Mill led by 23 going into the fourth quarter and outscored Mabank 15-11
in the final frame to forge the final 27-point margin.
Pannell led the Lady Panthers with 16 points, but the next highest Mabank scorer was
Makenna Allen with eight points.
Molly Groom added six points, Cheyenne Alldredge had five, Sara Springer had three.
Kourtney Holyfield, Ashton Norman and Alex Brady all had two points, and Kelsey Mitchell
chipped in a free throw.
Lady Mustang Emily Williams led all scorers with 19 points, with Meagan Weatherford adding
17, Haily Jenkins 12, Joanna Daniel 11, Taylor Munns nine and Kenzie Roberts four.
Trojans set fund-raiser
Monitor Staff Reports
TRINIDADBasketball and fund-raising will go together Tuesday, Dec. 7, when Trinidad
plays host to Penelope.
Trinidad varsity boys basketball head coach John Trammell announced this week TISD will be
holding its first Hoops for Hope event, part of the Texas Association of
Basketball Coaches (TABC) Coaches vs. Cancer program.
Trammell said coaches are asking everyone to wear pink for the game, a color which has
become the symbol of the fight against cancer.
The Lady Trojans will take the floor first at 6 p.m. with the Trojans and Wolverine boys
playing afterward.
Trammell said there will be fund-raising activities throughout the night. Money collected
will go toward cancer awareness and research.
