Paula McCarty
A memorial service for Paula Carol McCarty, 45, Mabank, was held Dec. 10, 2008, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Hensley officiating under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
McCarty was born Nov. 10, 1963, in Little Rock, Ark., and died Dec. 2, 2008, in Angola, Ind.
Previously of Mabank, she had resided in Angola, Ind., for the past four months and was of the Baptist faith.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband John Kreischer, Indiana; children Sammy Ayun, Arizona; Amber Fernandez, Tyler; Brandan McCarty, Nichole Flores and J.C. Cordova, all of Mabank; four grandchildren; mother Francis Morales, Mabank; other family members and many friends.

Donald C. Paxton
Graveside services for Donald C. Paxton, 88, Athens, were held Dec. 3, 2008, at Sand Hill Cemetery near Simms with the Rev. Sam Whitlow officiating under the direction of Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens.
Paxton was born March 10, 1920, in Neoga, Ill. to the late Della Starwalt and John Samuel Paxton and died Dec. 1, 2008, in Athens.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ollie Mae Howell Paxton in 1996, and son Chester Don Paxton in 1991, brothers Roy, George, Lawrence, Ted and Sammy Joe, sisters Rosemond and Sandra.
Paxton formerly resided in Texarkana 40 years where he was a member of the First Baptist Church and was employed 30 years for the U.S. Government/Civil Service retiring in 1977 as an inspector for the Department of the Army, serving in Italy.
He moved to Athens in 1996 and became a member of the First Baptist Church and member of the Adult Seven Sunday School Class.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Italy.
Survivors include his wife Faye Gartman Burnett Paxton, Athens; daughters Donna Holmes, Lavonia Nowell, Glenda Thompson, Brenda Tarter, Alice Burnett, all of Athens; brother John Paxton, Wills Point; 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sid Ballard, John Tarter, Rusty Abney, Kevin Proctor, Forrest Attaway, Daniel Holmes and David Paxton.
Honorary pallbearers were Dude Davis, Elmer Kruse and the Adult Seven Sunday School Class.

Paula Followwell
Services for Paula Jean Followwell, 54, Payne Springs, were held Dec. 6, 2008, at Hamilton Beeman Cemetery with Pastor Paul Hurley officiating under the direction of Tomlinson Funeral Home in Seven Points.
Followwell was born April 23, 1954, in Dallas to the late Jean and Tommie Thomas and died Dec. 4, 2008, in Athens.
She was preceded in death by her father Tommie Thomas and her mother and stepfather Jean and R.B. Bryant.
Survivors include her husband Tony Followwell; daughter Christi Followwell; sons Brandon and wife Joelynn Followwell; and Terry Lee and wife Sandy Yates; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie Vanderford
Services for Billie Jack Clark Vanderford, 82, Tool, were held Dec. 8, 2008, at the Eubank Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Jacobs officiating. Interment was in Payne Cemetery in Henderson County under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral Home in Mabank.
Vanderford was born April 20, 1926, in Eustace and died Dec. 5, 2008, in Athens.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her son Billy Lynn Clark and wife Ann, Coppell; daughter Mignon Reed and husband Philip, Tool; grandsons Kevin Reed, Tuscon, Ariz.; and Christian Clark, Coppell; granddaughter Cassie Clark, Coppell; nieces and nephews Sara Knight, Dewetta Crow, Douglas and Richard Groom.
Pallbearers were Richard Groom, Jerry Nelson, Sergio Pernales, Junior Knight and Douglas Groom.

Chris Ryer
Services for Chris Allen Ryer, 48, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at the Hillcrest Baptist Church, 909 N. Elm Street in Kemp. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Roselawn Funeral Home in Seagoville.
Ryer was born Sept. 29, 1960, in Kaufman to the late Minnie and Richard Ryer and died Dec. 6, 2008, in Kemp.
Survivors include his wife of 13 years Valarie Ryer; son Michael Thurber and wife Veronica; daughters Tamara Boyle and husband Kenny; Jennifer Dunn and husband Jeffery; grandchildren Collin Boyle, Zachery Dunn, Kaitlyn Boyle, Nathan Dunn, Nicole Thurber; brother Rick Ryer and wife Kathy; sister Denise Garoutte and husband Harland; numerous other family members and friends.
