Educator awarded Teacher of the Month
Special to The Monitor
ATHENS–Each month, Horace Mann Insurance in Athens and KCKL
Radio select a teacher in the Cedar Lake Area to be honored
as Teacher of the Month.
In November there were nominees from eight school districts.
Tami Dailey from Eustace Primary was selected as the winner
and honored on Nov. 1.
She was presented a crystal apple in front of a gym full of
students, teachers and family members.
“Ms. Dailey is homegrown right here in Eustace, where she
was born and raised and was a Eustace High School graduate,”
principal Dianne Shaffer said.
“She has taught in her home community for several years.
Tami started teaching in 1996 - this is her 16th year. She
received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
University of Texas at Tyler with a specialization in
reading. She has taught Reading Recovery, kindergarten and
second grade at Eustace Primary School.
“Each year, Mrs. Dailey has made a difference in many
children’s lives. She never steps back from challenges with
students, always searching for strategies and ways to help
in whatever academic or behavior areas of need,“ Shaffer
added.
“Her innovative thinking and “never give up” attitude is
reflected in her relationships with her students and
parents. Mrs. Dailey is an integral part of the Eustace
Primary T.E.A.M, leading with enthusiasm, a diligent work
ethic and positive attitude.”
Following the presentation, KCKL interviewed several of
Dailey’s students who enthusiastically explained how she
helps them learn.
The recognition and student endorsements were played on the
radio on various dates in November.
