Co-op cleans up county eyesore
Special to the Monitor
KAUFMAN–Recently the office staff at the Environmental Co-op
cleaned up a stretch of road at the intersection of Griffith
Avenue and State Highway 205.
“Armed with gloves, trash bags and safety vests, the four of
us made quick work of an eyesore so many of us see many
times a week driving between Terrell and Rockwall,”
administrator Candice Boswell said.
“It took less than an hour and the results are rewarded
immediately by looking around and not seeing trash
everywhere,” she added.
The Co-op hopes other offices, families and individuals will
clean up spots around them that need it.
“Everyone can help keep Kaufman County clean and green with
just a pair of gloves and a few minutes of time,” Boswell
explained.
Toys for Tots reports a successful year
Monitor Staff Reports
GUN BARREL CITY–Toys for Tots experienced a productive year
with donations providing Christmas dinner and toys for many
families, Jane Horton, president of the Gun Barrel City Toys
for Tots, said.
The group especially thanks Nathan Bullard of Golden Belle
Bingo for his extraordinary support of Toys for Tots.
Golden Belle sponsored the raffle ticket event by purchasing
a spot on the ticket and sponsored a benefit which resulted
in approximately $1,000 in funds.
The employees donated their tips for the night and employees
personally shopped for toys and clothing for some
recipients.
Bullard also made a substantial personal contribution.
“This type of generosity is so appreciated and makes a Merry
Christmas possible for many children in our area who
otherwise would not have those gifts under the tree and that
Christmas dinner to enjoy with their families,” Horton said.
“Thanks Golden Belle, you are special to us,” she added.
