Monitor Staff Reports
ATHENS–The driver of a boat destroyed in an early-morning crash that killed an Athens woman was indicted for Criminally Negligent Homicide by the Henderson County Grand Jury Dec. 6.
Tony Thomas Tudor, 37, from Caney City, was at the wheel when the boat crashed into the West Cedar Creek Municipal Utility District’s raw water intake structure near Don’s Port Marina shortly after midnight June 7, 2009.

Six people were aboard the boat with Tudor and Williams, four other men and a boy, about 8, who didn’t appear to be related to Williams, according to Henderson County Sheriff’s Office reports.

Philanthropy luncheon held
Special to The Monitor
PAYNE SPRINGS–In a season marked by goodwill, the Pinnacle Women’s Club (PWC) hosted the recipients of this year’s charitable donations at a recent luncheon.
These organizations are lifelines to those desperately needing assistance by providing food, clothing, shelter, medical care, educational tools, hope, and advocacy to the residents of the lake area.
“They represent the breadth of humanity, changing one life at a time, and we are honored to be able to support their efforts,” philanthropy chairman Jean Alexander said.
The Women’s Club continues to support their long-standing commitment to the on-going college scholarship programs, as well as donating to worthwhile charities in the lake area.
