SCURRY–Eustace’s Bulldogs blasted the hosting Scurry-Rosser Wildcats
18-7 in a non-district baseball contest Tuesday.
Now 4-6 on the season, the Bulldogs were scheduled to play in the
Terrell Invitational tournament this weekend.
Tuesday, March 21, the Bulldogs will open District 12-3A play on the
road when they visit Kemp for a 4:30 p.m. contest. Friday, March 24, the
Bulldogs will host Crandall for a 6 p.m. district game.
Next Tuesday, March 28, the Bulldogs will visit Wills Point for a 6 p.m.
game.
At Scurry Tuesday, the Bulldogs got off to a fast start behind home runs
by Robert Bonner (a grand slam) and Jacob Renteria.
For the evening, the ’Dogs pounded out 15 hits, but committed five
errors.
Bonner and J.D. Oldham both had three hits, with Bonner racking up six
RBIs, while Renteria, John Taylor, Michael Cook and Aaron Coffey all
notched two hits each.
Garrett Rhodes also added a hit.
Freshman Ryan Compton got the win, his first in varsity competition,
with Brey Rasco providing relief.
Terrell sweeps doubleheader

MABANK–Terrell’s Tigers swept a doubleheader from the Mabank Panthers
Tuesday, winning the opener 5-2 and following that with an 8-5 win in
the nightcap.
Mabank was scheduled to play in the Terrell Invitational tournament this
weekend.
After a break Tuesday, the Panthers will open District 14-4A play at
home Friday, March 24, with a 7 p.m. game against the Ennis Lions. Next
Tuesday, March 28, the Panthers will visit Athens for a 7 p.m. district
game.
In the opener, the Tigers took advantage of five Mabank errors, one of
them a three-base oops in the top of the second inning that allowed
Terrell to tie the game at 2-2.
Terrell took a 3-2 lead when Austin Moore scored while teammate Justin
Guiou was caught in a rundown between first and second.
The Tigers punched across a pair of insurance runs in the fifth and
seventh innings.
In the nightcap, Terrell took a 2-0 lead before Mabank scored three runs
in the bottom of the second inning.
Mabank took a 5-2 lead with two runs in the fourth inning, only to see
Terrell score three runs in the fifth and three more runs in the sixth
inning.
The Panthers wound up with six hits and committed two errors, while
Terrell had six hits and committed five errors in the game.
Foursome wins Guys & Gals tourney

KEMP–The team of Bill Coleman, Sammy Coleman, John Andrews and Wanda
Gregory took first place at the Guys & Gals Tournament at Cedar Creek
Country Club March 11.
The group posted a score of 62, and with a team handicap of 11.1, had a
final net score of 50.9.
Second place overall went to the team of Mike and Shirley Clement, and
Bob and Olivia Pearson, who finished with a score of 63. With a team
handicap of 9.5, the group had a net score of 53.5.
Third place overall went to the team of David and Marianna Ziegler and
Jim and Peggy Driscoll, who finished with a round of 65. With a team
handicap of 10.3, they finished with a net score of 54.4.
Other teams finishing were:
• Rod and Kathy Hunt, Gary and Linda Day, round of 60 with net of 55.8.
• Ken Green, Louise Powers and Stu and Helen Fowler, round of 63 with
net of 56.3.
• Chris Campbell, Rita Files, and Marshall and Nancy Barton, round of 63
with net of 56.8.
• Leroy and Linda Goode, and Bruce and Dot Irwin, round of 69 with net
of 57.5.
• Dan and Kitty Bradfield, and Ray and Mary Adams, round of 69 with net
of 57.8.
• James and Helen McDonald, and Lewis and Jolene Armstrong, round of 69
with net of 58.9.
• Ray and Shirley Brown, and Clarence and Loleta Hill, round of 72 and
net of 60.
