Felty receives scholarship

GUN BARREL CITY–Megan Felty of Gun Barrel City is the recipient of the
C.J. Davidson Scholarship for the academic year 2006-07.
This $1,000 award is given in recognition of high academic achievement
and university and community involvement.
She is a sophomore, majoring in early childhood development in the
College of Human Sciences at Texas Tech University.
Felty was the 2005 Valedictorian of Eustace High School and is the
daughter of Todd and Twyla Felty of Gun Barrel City.
She is currently maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and on the University
President’s list.
‘Junktique 2006’ dates set

SEVEN POINTS–Plans are underway for the fifth lake-wide garage sale
benefiting The Library at Cedar Creek Lake.
Sponsored by the Best Friends of The Library, the garage sale will be
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 4-6, in the community room of The
Library.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday.
“In each of the last four years, we raised $5,000 for The Library’s
operating fund, and we are hoping to do even better this year. We’ve
received lots of donations and are looking for more.
“All of our fund-raising efforts benefit the entire lake community by
helping The Library to continue providing free services and programs to
everyone in the area,” Best Friends president Gil Betts said.
The “Junktique Bake Sale” committee is also gearing up. Besides last
year’s favorites, there will be lots of new items including sugar-free
recipes.
Anyone wishing to donate items for the sale can do so at The Library at
Cedar Creek Lake (Seven Points) 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
If anyone needs help with a pick-up or another delivery time, please

Run to benefit Genesis Center

MABANK–The second annual Bill Newport (Batman) Memorial Run benefiting
The Genesis Center of Kaufman will be held at 8:30 a.m., Saturday April
29, at the Mabank Pavilion in Mabank.
Events include bike games, trike games, off bike games, kid games,
silent auction, bike show, food, vendors, door prizes and live music.
Awards ceremony will be held after the games.
Mail registration form to The Genesis Center, 2675 N. State Highway 34,
Kaufman, TX 75142.
Preregistration is $12. Registration at the gate will be $15.
