Connie Lee Matthews, 56, Mabank, was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Roswell, N.M.
to Thomas Jefferson Kee and Arline Taylor, and died May 11, 2006, in

She was married to Billie David Matthews and was a Baptist by faith. She
was a retired cashier for Wal-Mart.

Washington, D.C.; Johnny and Marla Carr, Yuma, Ariz.; and Tommie and
Michelle Kee, Lamesa.
Mass of Christian Burial for Maria “Tina” Cervantes, 82, Gun Barrel City
(formerly of Dallas) was held May 23, 2006, in St. Jude Catholic Church
in Gun Barrel City with Monsignor John Brennan officiating. Rosary was
said May 22, 2006, in Eubank Memorial Chapel. Interment was in Oaklawn
Cemetery in Mabank under the direction of Eubank Cedar Creek Funeral
Home in Mabank.
Cervantes was born Dec. 2, 1923, to Pietro L. and Filomena (Marcis)
Desogus in the Province of Villasor, Sardinia, Italy, and died May 18,
2006, at her home.
She was preceded in death by her “Bello,” husband of 52 years, Romulo

Survivors include her sons Peter L. Cervantes, Carrollton; Romulo
Cervantes and wife Ellen, Loveland, Colo.; Jesse G. Cervantes and Rick
Burton, Charleston, S.C.; and John J. Cervantes, Flower Mound;
daughter-in-law Barbara Cervantes, Flower Mound; daughter Chris Starrett
and husband Don, Gun Barrel City; grandchildren Howard, Kevin and Greg
Starrett, Tammy, Colleen, Lee, Theresa Cervantes, Rob Sloan, Danielle
and Christy Cervantes; great-grandchildren Elizabeth, Timothy, Anthony
Cervantes and Aaron Alford and Cameron Starrett and numerous cousins,
along with a host of friends in the U.S and Italy.
Pallbearers were Greg Starrett, Lee Cervantes, Kevin Starrett, Howard
Starrett, Rick Burton and Mike Cervantes.

A memorial service for Russell Charles “R.C.” Lowrie Jr., 47, a former
resident of Mabank, will be held May 25, 2006, at Cedar Fork Baptist
Church in Trinidad under the direction of Littles and Sons Funeral Home
Lowrie was born July 30, 1958, to R.C. “Snookie” and Carl Elizabeth
Lowrie and died in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Sheila Kennedy Lowrie.
Survivors include his sisters Sylvia Robertson, Gun Barrel City; Patsy
Johnson, Fort Worth; Linda Hornbuckle, Trinidad; Cassandra Lowrie and
Elizabeth Lowrie, Mabank; Tamika Lowrie, Canton; and Latoya Lowrie,
