Area girls team heads to national
BB tournament
Monitor Staff Reports
CEDAR CREEK LAKE–The Lady Jackets Summer Basketball teams coached by
Richard Alldredge will be heading to the Prime Time Sports national
tournament in Plano next weekend, July 27-30.
The Lady Jackets teams are composed of girls from Edgewood, Kemp, Mabank
and Martins Mill. This is the first year for some of the girls to play
summer ball, or to play at this level of competition.
The sixth grade team took second place in the Prime Time tournament
hosted in Mabank April 29-30, and went on to win the East Texas Shootout
championship in Longview June 9-11.
Girls in the seventh through 10th grade team, playing in the ninth and
10th grade division, were given an at-large invitation to play at the
national tournament. The team placed fourth of 14 teams recently at the
Prime Time Sports tournament in Plano.
Alldredge said he is very proud of the girls as they prepare to take on
the top Select teams from the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex area, the
state and teams from other states.
“I am just a dad who tries to keep the kids active over the summer – I
am not a coach,” Alldredge said. “These girls are all heart, and doing
what they love, and that is what it’s all about.”
